My girlfriend and I went out looking for some abandoned properties on Saturday - and we found a good one. These photos are the few that I chose to edit but I have more of the general debris / objects of interest in the house. This is my first post here and also my first time shooting in RAW and editing them in Photoshop and I'm happy with the results.

I don't know if I need to shrink the files for them to display correctly but yeah - here are my rookie posts.

Edit: Ok so I don't know how to show the images, can someone give me a rundown?

I THINK the problem is that the URLs you've used are not the actual images on Flickr - they're the Flickr pages displaying the images. I don't use Flickr myself, so I'm not 100% sure exactly how to fix this. Flickr annoyingly blocks right-click, so you can't just bring up the actual image in a new tab.

It was the URLs you were using because you weren't using the direct links for them they were showing up as errors.

I modified it for you, just to see if it was infact the problem. It was. What you need to do is go to the flickr image. There is an arrow at the right side of the photo click that and then make sure "BBCode" is selected. Choose the size of the image you want to use, and then copy and paste that exact link.

If you want me to put it back how it was I can.

Thanks man - I was using the HTML option to link them so that probably explains why they weren't working.

Those are super cool! And surprisingly so much left behind. I've seen dishes, furniture, and food items but never photographs. That's pretty awesome.

Thank you - it means a lot! I'll definitely post some more pictures, these were my favourites of the bunch, however. It was a really cool find and the fact that we just stumbled upon it is really cool. I'll try to edit some more photos later tonight and post them here.

One of the best sets I've seen on here in my brief time as a member. Truly awesome shots, and that's a great location as well.

Here's some more photos from the excursion to The Scraphouse. These ones are not nearly as good as the others in my opinion but there is interest in seeing more so I'll post them.

1. Cups by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

2. Outside the House by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

3. Red Truck by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

4. RV2 by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

5. Television by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

6. The Desk by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

7. The Land Before Time by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

8. Thousand Yard Stare by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

9. Tow Truck by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

10. Truck by Bugeater Photography, on Flickr

So there you have it - I'm a little upset because the photos that I took of more family photos didn't turn out. I'm definitely going back once the snow melts to get more photos.

A picture of a young grasshopper for the young grasshopper!

Excellent set, and not just for a rookie. Beautiful stuff. And bonus pictures! Clean compositions and subjects. I especially like tow truck because of the brightest of the vest juxtaposed to the whiteness of the snow. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

The pictures are almost all entirely too dark. Maybe bring the shadows up in your RAW importer, or use HDR and process carefully.

Nice additional adds Bugeater. If this is near your listed home-town, you're living in a hotbed area for quick-demolition-and-resurfacing-for-development of anything abandoned, so nice finding something that has been sitting here long enough to decay a bit and even (choke!) to get some external graffiti from the local riff raff. As much as I hate tagging, it at least gives you a calling card from a distance that the place isn't active and occupied by some old widower that doesn't drive or maintain the yard.

The graffiti and the fact that the door was wide open was what tipped us off. I wonder who used to live there? It's obviously been used as a scrap yard type area, but it's a family home as well. And they left in a hurry, it seems, nothing was brought with them. There were board games, mugs, dishes, food, sentimental objects - it was all very strange. It's bound to be demolished soon, though. There's a new suburb that was just built less than 1km from there but hopefully they won't bother with that until the snow melts, because I definitely want to go back.

The photos were initially very very bright - I thought darkening them would make them more "moody" so to speak. I'm really new with photo editing - this is my first set where I used RAW photos so I just kind of did what felt right. I'm sure my photo quality will increase as I take more and more photos, though. Thanks for the advice!
