I can still remember way back when, this place was one I had always wanted to visit. Subsequent visits to Belgium brought me into it's general vicinity but never actually inside it but thankfully all that changed one freezing cold day in March 2013, during my week-long holiday/exploring adventure all over Belgium. This was also the last explore we did during that week free from snow, as during our lunch stop afterwards it began to snow, which gradually turned into a blizzard which lasted the rest of the day and blanketed most of the country in some serious snowfall totals.

It once formed part of the Val Benoit University complex in Liege, Belgium and specialised in the sciences - chemistry, physics and suchlike. Much to my dismay the redevelopment plans finally got the green light last summer, and over the last few months the gorgeous original art deco buildings have been slowly stripped right back to their bare skeletons and the modern 1950s/60s extensions demolished ready for the development to begin.

The site was composed of five enormous buildings - three art deco university buildings, a pair of 1950s/60s buildings and an art deco power plant building, we only got around two of the art deco examples in the hours we spent there but even that was still enough to firmly put it in my 'favourite ever' list.

Thanks people...I could easily have spent two or three days in there exploring the entire site top to bottom but sadly we had other places to be, and it's all relative now it's being converted. I'm just glad I got to see a portion of it at all after it was on my list for so long.

Big fan of your sets, your research, and your photography. Looking forward to more good work. I love the big lecture hall with the chalkboards.

I loved the lecture halls, for some reason having the chalkboards still hanging in the classrooms really made the shot for me.
