| | | I don't know your area, but you posted in main and I'm feeling friendly, so I'll let you know that: a) Hope your immune from butt-hurt since you posted this. b) Don't know where to go? Spend some time walking, driving, or biking around your town. You'll find some places to explore. You can also look around online, your local preservation society may have a list of imperiled spots, you could find info about recent business closings, etc. c) Google/Bing maps. Satellite view can help you find abandoned locations, street view can help you find drains. And do use these maps to plan access to the spots you find. d) POE tips? Depends on the spot, some abandoned places will have a POE you can actually spot from the road. I'm sure there's a lot I'm overlooking, but really, you need to read more threads on this site, especially in the rookie forum. There's already a lot of info on this sort of thing. Also, if you don't know any local explorers, PMs or pictures from your explores will probably be a much better way to meet than this kind of thread.

| | | What a lucky fellow you are to live in Detroit, the ruin capital of the nation. You're about to have a lot of fun! 8) As BlaneAlexander said, the FAQs are the best starting point. Then the Rookies board and the UE Tutorials board, which I see you've already visited tonight. Be sure to read Send4Help's thread on masks and respirators http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=108617 if you're at all considering entering a building with airborne contaminants, and stay healthy and alive. You'll find photography advice in boards devoted to it. There are also regional boards, where people discuss local concerns, post about their explores and may meet. Scroll the main menu down to the map and click on a dot on the map to go to a regional board. You may find kindred souls and places to go in the UE Great Lakes board, http://www.uer.ca/...sp?fid=1&catid=306 Watch the Events calendar for meetups near you; click EVENTS in the side-bar. Another place to check is the Location Database ( LDB ). The way there is the UE DB button on the left sidebar. We've mislabeled it on purpose to keep explorers entertained. If things seem a bit sparse here, that's because you are a basic member. As you participate and contribute to the shared experience and resources here, and we get to know you better, you can look forward to a full membership and improved access; see the FAQ for how to qualify and apply.
