One shot from each of the places I went last year. It was a good year over all, I didn't get killed and I got a few good photos along the way, met and explored with some very interesting people and numerous old friends.
This is not all abandonment photography, I like to strike a balance with nature photography, mainly waterfalls, some of these waterfalls are treacherous hikes, some involve trespassing across property owned by farmers...farmers with shotguns and rifles. Adds a sense of tension and urgency.
Thanks for looking.
I started in January by foolishly visiting a waterfall, I wandered out onto the ice and rocks near the top of the falls only to draw the attention of the power plant workers...

February, a shitty little building, now demolished to make way for a hotel that nobody will probably stay in.

A cool little bath house, I was pleasantly surprised by this one, I knew nothing about it going in...

Something new to me, a frozen mine, I really liked this location, worth the drive, froze my ass off.

A frozen mill down by the river. At one point I set up my tripod and watched it slide across the room on the ice, of course I left the spiky tripod things at home.

Sometimes you cross a few property lines to get to these falls, I'll be damned if I am going to let those selfish bastards keep these waterfalls to themselves.

Another hike, another waterfall. Got hit in the head by a rock that some dirty hippies broke loose at the top of a gorge. They didn't even ask if I was ok, never trust a hippy.

I know, I know, another waterfall. This one involved some real bat-man shit with ropes and trees to get down to the bottom of the gorge. Fun solo hike.

Approaching the middle of fucking nowhere, not far from moose country. Hiked these trails 3 weekends in a row and still didn't make it to all the neighboring waterfalls. Wandered off the marked trails into the wilderness, made it back to tell the tale...

Had a lot of fun here, thanks to Ripcity for meeting up and taking me here after I had given up on this location. I went back with a most cumbersome Krampus-Claus costume that I made and did a little holiday photoshoot.

This fucking place...once in a great while, my wife will go on an explore with me. It's a rare occasion, she isn't a photographer, but she is intrigued by the history of all the abandoned places I visit. This one almost ended in disaster twice. She is quick to panic, I tend to remain calm and calculating. We dodged a couple near misses and I talk my way out of some potential legal hassle with some bedazzling bullshit! Fun day.

Finished 2014 on a high note with a spur of the moment trip to this place. Ended up with a larger group than I expected, met some old friends and made a couple new ones. All in all a great way to finish the year.
