Some fun with my less serious plastic lensed toy. The photo shop will process the 35mm negatives but I have to scan them in on a scanner I modified.

Taken with a wide array of film from found expired Kirkland to newer Kodak and in between.

Thanks! Yep. Got it for mostly road trips and exteriors, but my how I love it on a tripod too.

Saw some of these on your Flickr. The sprocket holes give such a unique and and interesting character to the shots. Very cool.

This is some cool shit. Love it.

Just curious--do you mind telling how and what you're scanning with? I see Lomo makes a film holder to use with film shot with this camera, but it sounds like you're doing something different.

I bought a $50 Craigslist Epson V300, then took a ruler and an xacto and carefully trimmed the scanner's negative holder on each sides so it would barely catch on both sides but still scan as much as possible.
*I tried this first with an free and old HP, but it took forever to scan only one at a time.

Maybe I'll get around to a easier description write up but here's a couple cell pics for now.

*The Epson has better software too so you can manually select the area you want it to adjust exposure for (omitting the black holes to eliminate over exposure), then drag back wider to scan the entire image.

I have one of these cameras but gave up on it due to scanning annoyances. How are you dealing with the color processing after the scan?

From the start for those playing along at home, the scanner settings are

Epson Scan auto exposure achieved from one of the negatives minus sprocket holes, then scan area dragged back out to cover full area.

As far as adjustments afterwards, I limit myself (by my standards). In Photoshop, I may auto expose (I Ctrl+J the image and then slide back the AE layer opacity for more control after) and then I may pull a preset curve adjustment (On another Ctrl+J layer). For me, I like contrast, so "linear contrast" may be the ticket.

Sometimes the scan is spot on anyway. Sometimes it reads a little differently than I'd like. Every once in a while it pulls a little too purple. Auto color fixes that.

Like I said, this is pretty handicapping from what I usually do in my digital processing workflow, and that's the point. If I can't auto a scan in under a minute, then I'm not using this camera for what I got it for.

The BIGGEST hurdle with this oddity is its light hungriness (f/11 on cloudy, f/16 on sunny).

For me, if it's a good fresh roll, 400 works. If it's expired, go 800 or bulb setting.

Of course you can do whatever you want with anything plus a tripod and some good guesswork. If on a tripod, I use an "educated" guess, or sometimes I may cheat and test the light with my digital camera on AV.

**Oh and expect the old man shop developer to tell you you are wasting your time and to get a real camera. Especially when you ask for some empty rolls to use for redscale.

I put an expired Agfa roll in at a second-time explore. Results were interesting.
