I'll be in Cleveland here in a couple week and was wondering if the abandoned church on the east side of town is worth the trip or if it's even still there or now in use, latest street view was in Aug so something could have happened since then. I'll only have a day to get as much in as I can so don't want to waste it on something not so interested or driving to a place that's been torn down. Thanks

Which one? There are a bunch.

St. Joseph. I'll be there on a Sunday so I don't know if it's a good idea to visit with what looks like an active church next door.

I haven't been there for about a year and a half now, but when I was I actually talked to the neighbors living in the house next door while I was walking around outside taking photos. I made it pretty obvious that I only had a camera and wasn't carrying any typical vandal/entry/tagger gear. I felt by talking to them, and by doing a little social engineering in the process, that they wouldn't call the police or anything like that on me. And they didn't.

I serve as a blank screen on which people of vastly different political stripes project their views.

Cool.
I was there in 2009ish.
The floor had been ripped up and it was pretty trashed then.
How's it look now?
Still viable?

It's fine - the side was open then, but others have found it boarded up. There is no floor for much of the building, but tons of junk to walk around on. It's worth it for the "utter destruction" shot, and of the frescoes.

The folks next door will call the police, but whether or not the police will show is another question. I've heard some explorers ask at the open church for permission, and receive it, but YMMV.

Any updates to this site ?

I'm planning on revisiting this site in Dec 2015.

Parked a couple blocks away.

Didn't ask for permission last time.

Didn't encounter any issues either.
