A couple of years ago I let my carry permit expire. Next weekend I'm taking the class again to get it renewed. In the last year we've had three instances of people stealing stuff from the yard (it's fenced and locked) and the house broken into just before Christmas. They don't seem to be bothered by the motion sensing lights around the house. A motion alarm goes off inside the house when they get too close to the front door. Been out front in the middle of the night with the pump 12 more than once. The roommate had three guys jumping the fence to get out of the yard when she walked out with the 12g just a couple of weeks ago.

I don't look at firearms as "the answer", but more of a final resort when things go bad and everything else has failed.

Well I know here in texas gun laws mostly open, its legal to carry a shotgun on ur back or a pistol with a CHL which not that hard to get here. But im not that big of a gun person I do carry a knife cause well its allways useful for cutting ropes and here soon might pickup a pepper spray or taser.

It seems wrong to trespass, and carry a gun. I almost always carry pepper spray, and sometimes a knife.

there IS a problem with carrying a gun while exploring...
a little law that says something like "possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime".
so yeah, theres that
