Recently explored an abandoned power plant that still had electricity running in a few places. It was abandoned in 1992 (I assume, since i found a few newspapers in various work desks) so some of the lights have been on since i was born! Kinda sketchy seeing as how the floor was very wet in some places.... Anyways it was pitch black everywhere there wasn't running lights, and even when there were, they were VERY dim and flickering, so everything had to be exposed with a flashlight.

Hope you enjoy.

And finally a look at the main space of the plant.... This was taken about 2 or 3 stories up as it was the only place i could get a clear shot with my little 35 mm, and the place was HUGE so this is the largest area I've ever exposed with a flashlight. It took 4 surefire crees and some helping hands to light it up enough.

Thanks for looking!

glad you made it in okay mang! nice shots - place looks the same as it did a couple of years ago! seriously - looks like some things in there have not been touched at all, which is rad because rumors have been circulating that it will be demolished before too long. its on the historic properties list so maybe someone is actually going to save it. lets hope so!

Thanks Guy! I'm guessing it owes it's untouched-ness to the fact it's such a LONG walk to get to it and the nearby active plant, not to mention how small the town is. I looked everywhere for graffiti, and all i found was a single "..... was here 1995" written next to the fallout shelter. So i thought that was pretty cool!

I saw these on Tumblr like 5 minutes ago. They did credit your flickr tho, it's rare people have the decency to do it these days.

I love the way you illuminated the place with purple, it really makes the pictures stand out! It's a great idea, i might even steal it

The "punch machine" is an old belt-driven Bridgeport milling machine for metal-working. I've worked on them for years making machine parts from aluminum, steel, copper and brass.

some times the only option is long exposures when you do places like this we had the same problem at a power station in scotland where we traveled passed 23 sets of security guys. No torches, no lights ! trying to navigate even when you have adjusted your night vision is brutal at times but the rewards are worth it

Hmm interesting. I don't mind that at all lol. And Thanks! Also the light was originally painted in red but with a tungsten White Balance it turns the hues towards the purple side.

Thanks Misunderstood! Also the smoking effect is actually my face ghosting. It kept showing up so I just bobbed my head quickly and the result was a muddled smokey look.

This is very cool. I wish we had more abandoned power plants here!
