VCXPEX, always a fantastically righteous time. I get to adventure through amazing places, see some of my favorite people and drink lots of beer (not that that's anything out of the ordinary.) I even introduced several people to their very first cheese curds during this meet-up. I say that is an accomplishment all on its own.
'Lise and myself embarked upon our journey at midnight, after i finished with work. We scooped up Chuck_Ingalls and then Orangedrink on the way down. The drive is rather hazy for me. I remember bits and pieces, but let me tell you, attempting to catch some shuteye on a road-trip with these guys is quite a difficult task. I managed.
After rollin' into the area and stoppin' at base camp to unload, we met up with everyone at this fabulous church.
01. Looord have mercy! I just noticed i did a terrible job rotating/cropping this one. Oops. Too late now.
02. Pretty much the same shot, but vertical!
03. The room where people put on garments and also took them off!
We then hit up a local brewery turned nightclub. I didn't really take many photos. Mostly just a few self portraits.
04. 'Lise, Orangedrink, myself and Send4Help.
05. Enjoying a nice Sprecher Special Amber, one of my go-to explore brews.
06. An oxymoron; i'm somewhat of a pussy.
Things may have went south at the brewery/nightclub. Five others and myself may have spent over an hour hiding under a stairwell in the freezing cold. Thirteen others may have been escorted out by Kentucky's finest. This is all here-say, though. The rumors may or may not be true..
Freedom always feels so damn sweet after a close call.
After a fantastic show at a local saloon (featuring Budda's band) and racking up quite the tab due to multiple tallboys and a nacho platter, we headed back to home base for more fun and more brews.
Saturday was even more fantastic! We started off with a beautiful school in a middle-of-no-where country town. But of course not before we infiltrated the only local pub. I bet that was the most people crammed into that place in quite some time. Definitely took the barkeep by surprise.
07. Lots of great colors here.
08. Is that supposed to be Pikachu? Nice try, kid.
09. B-ballin' all day.
10. A hallway shot, in case you can't tell.
11. Quite a lonely chair. Poor little guy.
12. King of the castle.
13. Yellow, a random pile of rocks and a blown-out window.
14. This staircase was full of the town's ancient crime records for some reason. I wish i had time to sit down and browse for a while.
Exteriors:
15. It was a beautiful, sunny day.
16. Just kidding. It was super gloomy and overcast. I added the cloudy sky because i couldn't stand to look at these photos with a plain white sky. Let me know what you think.. First attempt at superimposing anything.
17. Chuck rockin' 'n' rollin'.
18. I just realized this one seems a bit crooked. Oh well, i'm not editing it again.
After the school, we headed to a super trashed hospital. I didn't take many shots, as i was trying not to die.
19. I had never seen one of these before. Neat.
20. Did i mention the place was super trashed?
21. I swear this was a hospital, not a swamp.
a
22. I had never seen one of these either. I must admit i was pretty damn excited to finally explore a hospital with a morgue. Now to find one in decent condition.
23. It doesn't look all that bad in this shot.
After the hospital, some people did a bridge, but i really wasn't feelin' the combination of cold and heights. I opted to head back to home base. More brews. More good times. Then rooftopping a brewery. More brews. Sleep.
The next morning it was time for my least favorite part of a meet-up, the drive back home. What a great friggin' weekend, though! Thanks to everyone involved!
