I'm curious they are called drones, and not "RC coptor" or something. There are huge and elaborate RC planes and helicoptors, why aren't they called drones? Is it only because there can be a camera attached? Calling them drones seems overly dramatic.

Boeing has a drone-killing laser coming to market.
It has a 20 watt throughput.
Expect to see them at big venues ... sporting events, concerts, NSSEs, etc etc.

20 watts is a friggin LOT of laser, for the record!!

Seems like it'd be a liability to knock a drone out of the sky over a crowd of people. A propeller to the eye sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen lol. Though it would be fun as hell to watch lasers knock drones out of the sky.

we sell drones at work. Yes, we opened one and flew it around the store. Sold out immediately afterwards.

I'd use one ifin i could afford a good one.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I wouldn't count on drones getting much quieter.
I think the only people holding the reigns to "stealth helicopter" technology at the moment, is the military.

A future prosumer grade drone with four to six tiny propellers all spinning at some very angry speeds (that actually remains quiet) is going to cost a fortune.

To whom it may concern: Found some pretty legit footage of the abandoned Renaissance fair in the woods of VA.

1.

A Farmer was using this to check on his cattle, I didn't think it was that loud. It also flew quite far.
