I went to this abandoned house nearby to where I live yesterday and I found this dead cat laying on a mattress inside. I thought that was pretty strange and it made me think, "this is weird, I wonder what other strange things people have found while exploring..."

What is the strangest thing you've ever found while doing some urbex? The cat's the strangest thing I've ever found, but I'm sure there crazier things out there.

My strangest was during a recent explore of one mental institute where I found a full detailed annual report of completely separate mental institute from 1978. It was near mint condition, obviously done with a type writer, containing all the info of the complex, it's concurrent doctors and patient plans, and pretty much anything you could ever want to know about the place. It was sitting under a pile of burned and mangled books/folders, nearly untouched by the elements time and weather. Not only was it impeccable for its age, what really struck me as strange was the fact that it wasn't just in the wrong doctors office, it was in the wrong institute entirely. I guess it shows doctors from neighboring facilities worked together in their field.

Strange but not informative: someone made a Hansel and Grettle style breadcrumb line of porno magazine pages through this one abandoned mental asylum that started at one end and lead you all the way to the roof. It kinda creeped me out. Following them I passed a room with a jason mask dangling in the window:

Found a huge gun collection behind a secret door that was hidden in the living room of an old house when I was 12 years old.

A cupboard full of large knives, full face masks and containers of petrol in an old girls school I explored years ago. That one always made me wonder just what was going on there...

This was quite a strange find too...

If finding a Christmas parade float parked in a loading bay of a recently abandoned assembly plant wasn't strange enough, we found it last year during the height of one of the most scorching heatwaves I can remember here in the UK last July.

A few things come to mind...

"Miss Cleo"

Sugar

Replacement choppers

A head

A friend of mine in the materials testing biz explains...
I know what those are; they're nuclear density- and moisture-testing gauges to check the compaction of asphalt and other construction materials. We have a bunch of them where I work and they're highly regulated by both state and federal authorities, and if one is lost, stolen or damaged its a mountain of paperwork involved. Even disposing of an old or obsolete one requires it to be sent back to Troxler to be dismantled so the radioactive elements can be removed accordingly (and if the boxes ARE empty, the gauges must be elsewhere, which is a big no-no). Its hilarious to think about them forgotten in an abandonded building

Found in the former downtown Gary Walgreens, which was just demolished. It had all slipped under the bottom board of a display, which someone had pried-up for some reason.

Impressive! I would not have thought to find stained glass in a factory of all places...I can see why that would be a strange find. Sadly, finding any unbroken glass window in an abandonment is almost a strange find. Windows are always the first to go! But I understand why...have you ever broken a window? That is some fun stuff
