Vacation
entry by SnArF

Vacation was great. I had a blast, getting away from Colorado and getting to go to Florida for a while. It also gave me some great chances to explore some things that I had never been to before. Our first stop was in Ardmore, Oklahoma. I wanted to see the dam there, but after I PM'ed the creator of the location, he said it wasn't worth seeing. That said, we set off to Lafayette, Louisiana. Day 2 was pretty cool, except that we drove really far and was extremely tired. It would of paid off, if it wasn't for the damned camera. We were out in the countryside when we went to a rest stop, and out of the Sugar Cane feilds, I spotted a Huge Factory. Abandoned. My adrenaline soared, here was the chance to check out the biggest location and give everyone on UER a look. It would have worked that way, but as soon as I took the Camera from our air conditioned car, I switched it on to see big red letters. "Condensation Detected, Remove Tape!" Ok, so I take the tape out of the camera, and still I get the same Bullshit on the screen. I was pretty pissed off, as you could imagine. To my extreme dissapointment, I had prepped my camera and got it ready for the whole trip, and I find a location twice the size of Gates Rubber in Denver, bigger than Whitby, or anything ever witnessed before, and the camera fucks up. This was the first time this would happen, but not the last, but I'm getting to that. Well, after swearing to myself several dozen times, I asked a couple of local yokels about the history of the plant, and it was a textile plant for Fruit of the Loom, and back in 1999 they exported the factory to Mexico and layed off all the workers. The whole town had gone downhill somewhat since then. I felt bad, for all the people who lost their jobs, and for the fact my camera was worthless. Some things are better left untouched, I guess. If anybody wants information on how to get to the plant, I'll be more than happy to give directions to them. Anyway, on to the next day.
We arrived the next day in New Orleans, the big easy. We had a great Hotel, the Place De Arms. We had our own private courtyard, with swimming pool and all and a balcony that opened up to Bourbon and Royal Street. Great Veiw, I must say, I had a blast. For the first time, I smoked a handrolled Cigar, and I watched them make it right in front of me. What was also nice, is we could smoke inside restraunts without people being dicks to us. And whats nicer, an abandoned shop with Classic New Orleans style Architecture, several blocks down. I avoided it like the Plague. For all of you wondering why I didn't go in, you obviously dont deal with Bums that much. The only way I would have gone in is if I had a hand gun or the Army or something. And with a 300$ digital camera? I dont think so. The next morning, Beignets at Cafe du Monde for breakfast, and with that, off we headed to our final destination, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
We arrived in Ft. Walton Beach around 4:00 that afternoon, to great weather. Our Condo at Gulf Dunes had to be one of the best ever. Here is a picture I took off of our Balcony.

Great veiw, isn't it? We were on the 5th floor, with a great veiw of the beach. For the next three days, I meandered the beach, meeting all sorts of people from the south. I had a blast. At night, we would look for sand crabs, and after I took my little brother in, I went out on the Beach to maybe find some people to hang out with. I found more than that, by a condo next to us, the Breakers, there was a bonfire going. I said "whats up?" and before I knew it, I was drunk. I barely made it back to my condo, I was so hammered. Thats what 3 Car Bombs, and a shot of 151 will do to you. One hell of a headache the next morning. I pretty much repeated that until the third day. I ate raw oysters for the first time (They were from bayou la batry for all you Forrest Gump Fans) and I didn't eat them by myself either. I met this girl from Oxford, Alabama and I pretty much asked her out like that. I told her all about UE and all that great stuff. I had a blast.
Well, not everything goes well while your on vacation, because as soon as we were done eating, I got a call on my cell from my brother in Colorado. I couldn't beleive what he had to say. It turns out my Golden Retreiver, Charlie, broke a screen in my upstairs bathroom, and, I swear I'm not making this up, jumped off the roof, and in the process, took our entire Telephone system down with him. The wire was broken and half, and it destroyed everything in the service box. My dog was fine, though.
But he had caused alot of Damage for no reason. It pissed me off, but at the same time I kept my cool. I told him that I was going to a waterpark later, and to deal with it whatever best way he could.
Well, as soon as I get to the water park, all those thoughts about my dog vanished. The slides where dry and empty, all the pools where full of rainwater. I thought to myself, What the hell is going on here? It turns out, a year ago, they were shut down due to a health Violation at the park. Access was not a problem at all. I spared no time running back to the condo and grabbing my camera. As soon as I started to climb the walkway to get in to the Water Park, I flicked the switch to "ON" and, I swear to god I've never been so pissed off before, "Condensation Detected, Remove Tape!" FUCK! This whole vacation was going to suck because my camera messed up again. Well, you know what? Fuck that Camera. I explored it anyway. I walked up on to the tower and looked at the drop slides, I checked out all the slides I used to go down, and even the go-kart track. Nobody posted any signs, so I walked right in. I didn't even have to jump a fence. I had a blast, and I wasn't even swimming. If anyone wants directions there, feel free to PM me and I'll send you directions.
Well, the girl I met from Oxford had to go back and I had 2 days left to enjoy Florida, and the beach was nice, I went to a few more Partys, had alot of fun. I savored the Last day there, and finally, we had to leave back to Colorado. On the day we left, my camera got its shit together, and I checked out the Abita Springs Brewery in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Not only that, there was an old Louisiana Plantation that was Half-Demolished, so I got a picture of it if anyones interested. Thats in Louisiana Somewhere, I'll have to look it up tomorrow. I returned to Colorado, to find the house semi-torn up by my dog. Oh well, they dont call it vacation for nothing.
In Conclusion, I had a great time. The Camera messed up on me, and that was dissapointing, but I see past all the things that went wrong to the Positive Side. I had a great time, and I would do it again in a moments notice. I love Florida, if it where up to me, I would live there, but I have people that need me in Denver. Anyway, I'm typing this on Microsoft Word, and I'll copy and paste it to UER tomorrow when the guy from the telephone service gets back, because until then, I'm out of Internet. See all of you tomorrow, until then, Life's a Garden, Dig it.
