Why has no one mentioned Linda Vista Hospital in LA? It's been in like, a dozen movies. Mainly shitty horror ones.

Posted by R3d michigan has a tax cut for movie makers, so theyve been filming here for a long time. michigan central station was in 2 of the transformer movies, the island, crossover, 4 brothers, an episode of detroit 187, and several music videos including eminem and kid rock. the packard was used in one of the transformer movies. theres more in detroit, i just cant think of them now. both buildings are being worked on and sealed, so dont worry about it

Eloise I hear is being used for filming right now.

Also, not that it was anything that would have been on any radars, but CLP got used for some cheesy horror movie shortly before they demo'd most of it. Called "Closed for The Season" or something.

I don't know how much is going to be filmed on the old site (there's not much there but a field anymore, so I'm not worried about people finding the location), but this has been popping up on my Facebook a ton lately:

It was, at the time it wad filmed there the prison was still very much active though. That's the one big reason I would like to go see Joliet.


Now that I think about it The Deer Hunter, used a lot of then active now abandoned and mostly gone steel mills and steel towns and backdrop for a lot of scenes as a stand in for Clariton, PA, most notably the now demolish Wheeling-Pittsburgh mill at Stubensville and Mingo Junction, both demolished in the last couple years.

The once semi-abandoned boardwalk/buildings in Asbury Park were used in this movie:

Now it has a bunch of fancy bars and restaurants. I vaguely remember the boardwalk being super sketchy when I was a kid... My mom would take me to the Palace Arcade when I was like 3 years old and then we would head over to look at Madame Marie's on the boardwalk (my family has a springsteen obsession). There used to be lots of great abandoned buildings in Asbury... old hotels, movie theaters, but the town is on the up-and-op and lots of the buildings have been demolished or repurposed. Great for the town, not so great for exploring.

Some horror movie was shot at Eloise in February if I recall correctly.

TV, but still.



I would have absolutely loved to have gone in there (and perhaps some intrepid explorer already has).

I recently went to explore an abandoned grain mill/elevator, and when we got to the door there was a bunch of people inside with lights set up shooting a film. Before we got close enough to talk to them, a big security guard hopped out of his truck and told us we can't get an closer. They seemed like they were all college kids, but what they were shooting and why they needed a guard is beyond me.
