Documentary help

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this site so bear with me if I commit any urbex blasphemy.

My name is Carl Mueller and I am a graduate journalism/documentary student at Emerson College in Boston.

I'm currently working on a documentary explaining the work and lifestyle of urban explorers, particularly in the Boston, Providence, Worcester area. So far, I have explored a few locations alone and followed other explorers of whom I met on instagram.

I'm newly enthralled by this urbex pursuit and know how great of a story it will be: The danger, the photography and appreciating/preserving what once was. That's why I'm currently in the process of making a doc.

That's also why I am here. I'm wondering if there is anyone on this site who lives in the Boston, southern New England area who would not mind being a part of this. I would love to be able to tag along on your next urbex trip and film you doing what you do.

Obviously, locations will not be disclosed and identities can be hid if desired.

Please respond if you are interested or know anyone who would.

My Instagram handle is Cmuel37 so you can verify I am legitimate. I have a picture with an explorer who I met there.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! My number is 508-596-3323 if you would rather talk through there.

Carl

Carl, it sounds like a noble pursuit, but many here are too gunshy or jaded to participate, I am sure.

How long of a time budget do you have for the project? To do a subject like this right, you have to basically live the scene for some period of time (at least a year, if not more), not only to learn the subtleties, but to also earn your own street-cred and such. As a Journalism grad student I am sure you already know this. You will probably find more success by building on the leads you already have and following those. Good luck. And yeah, skip instagram - it's really just posers for the most part. Dig around on Flickr if you must use photo-sharing sites as a resource. Keep us posted on how it goes.
