Given the haphazard graffiti, I'm kinda surprised there is still as much stuff as there is there, and that it's not been completely trashed.

That sounds about right, although I did not see the elevator up close for myself and all. Maybe someone can chime in.

there is an elevator near the front desk, it is completely enclosed. Not sure what you mean by "cage elevator"...

There was another hotel around the corner that had a "cage" elevator with a door. Not sure if this is what you mean.

There were also so pretty neat phone booths.

These places look incredible. Love the photosets. In this last one, what does the sign on the elevator say? How many people are allowed to go into the elevator at one time? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yea, I believe it said no more than 5 people at a time. It was a fairly small elevator.

The condition of those phone-booths is amazing, though I imagine they'd been restored to some degree. The elevator looks mostly original though.

What a mess now. Was that pool part of the hotel? I don't recall seeing it when I was there.

Yeah, If you went around back where the narrow dirt road was you would come across it.

To try and clear up the question about the elevator, in that picture, behind the vision glass panel, that's a collapsible gate (scissor gate). That's the inside door of the elevator, as opposed to a cage elevator, like at Bennett School, where the elevator cab itself is basically an ornate bird cage instead of a proper enclosure. Scissor gates are a dime a dozen but cage elevators are pretty rare.

That's why the elevator museum guy (Fat Pat) wants the elevator from Bennett so bad.
