Yes, I gave a fake name to a real place... If you must know, it was the home of Edward Ferenczy (more here), long-time Hudson River resident who built boats with his father, August. The home was a private memento to a forgotten time. Soon after I posted the photos, it was discovered and became an exploration "destination" despite my best efforts to maintain the family's privacy. In time, the family ran off would-be explorers. The globe disappeared. For all I know, the home no longer exists as it was.

It was the only place I have tried to keep relatively secret, but it was still discovered. Exploration carries its consequences. The family's privacy was violated, and I played a role in it. Whatever the case, it was a beautiful story, of a beautiful place.

Wow, everything here is awesome: the ceiling, the doorknobs, the old newspaper tubes. "Salon" is a fantastic shot giving the full scope of scale and contents here. I really like the 2nd shot of the tight, flaking peelies. And that globe is phenomenal!! I've never seen such a low detail representation like that anywhere.

This place is wonderful. Every photo tells a story. The Boat is very impressive. Love the door plate and the doorknob with the tassels...looks like someone graduated in 74.

I always wanted to visit this place. I'm almost positive I know where that globe now resides.

Exploration carries its consequences.

No, blabbing online does. It is actually possible to explore without posting photos and naming names on forums.

Nice! Some excellent pictures! Though, one recommendation...check your highlights for HDR. A lot of your highlights are blown. I know Nikon's have a highlights menu that show you the 'blinkies'...not sure what kind of camera you have.

Exactly. Giving the name of the place or hinting at it's name or whereabouts is what brings people there. Not much else will.

Respectfully beg to differ that exploration doesn't carry consequences, though I would argue that it is also worth the consequences.

Blabbing online could also be called advocating for the protection of rare heritage sites through outreach. It's all a matter of how you perceive being public about a place.
