If anyone is familiar with this place as of recently, feel free to chime in. My question is what is the security status?
But anyway, So i made a trip down here the other day after meticulously planning everything via Google maps, but when I got there something didnt feel right. I had been planning to walk down the main road and then go through the field to the chapel/church. I was about to cross over to the chapel, but noticed that the boards on the buildings were all still intact and little sign of tagging. That was too suspicious for a place like this (huge grounds, lots of cool buildings, easy to see when driving by). I figured there had to be some kind of security (not to mention state police are 5 mins away). So whats the deal here? I also heard things like it is patrolled on foot by police, as well as riders on horse.

Place is a wreck and easy.

There's a drive-through guard in a truck that has to cover a lot of ground (an entire street of empty houses adjacent to the school) as well as the complex. BUT... he only comes through sporadically and since it's all "twisty-turny" and there's plenty of overgrowth, you can usually hear the crunching gravel in time to disperse. He drives like 7 mph.
The boarding of entrances happens quite often, and the accessibility of each building is constantly changing. Get there before the frost hits as the thick, jungle-like overgrowth is disappearing rapidly. It helps to make the best use of the natural cover. Park in the public park next-door and trundle on over. Just use the normal amount of caution and quiet stealth as the chance of getting nabbed is pretty-good when walking from building-to-building outside. No tunnels. Look for the greenhouse, it's awesome.

As I recall there was a fire recently and after that they did a pretty thorough job re-boarding the place back up and put a real gate on the front entrance.

I have run into state police driving through, a car who I assume is security since I have seen it cruising though more than a few times, and then also people on horseback from the adjacent property, who appear to have or have had permission to ride on the grounds, probably with the idea it would be another pair of eyes on the place.


The place used to be a pretty big free for all but these days I don't know, it seems like since the fire security increased. A friend of mine shorty before the fire drove by and saw a team of kids being arrested by state troopers by the front building too. Just be careful in the open around there.

When I was there was roaming security. Had to duck and cover in a stairwell. Took a while for them to go away.

Sleighton is pretty close to me, so I tend to go every few months or so. The last time I was there, I'd say about a month ago, I didn't see any security. Nor have I ever, other then the broken down security Jeep. They have gated off the main entrance by the admin building, but parking in the soccer field next door is your best bet anyways. I'm still recovering from an accident and I was wheeling around in my wheelchair. I'd be more worried about other local kids causing a ruckus with all of their tom foolery. They cause trouble for themselves, that could mean trouble for you. PM if you have more questions.

I was there in June and a lot of the buildings were fairly well (and newly) boarded up but a few buildings were still accessible without "breaking."

We were able to access the chapel.

From my understanding, they are thinking of either renovating or putting houses up there, so it'd kinda make sense to see increased security there.

I was there the other night. There was a state trooper posted behind the main gate, and I'm assuming he was patrolling the property.
