I saw the other post like this so I thought I would do the same about Eau Claire. I go there every other weekend and am wondering if there's anything good in town? I've seen a couple spots and one has a lot of security. Is it worth looking around? Not asking for names but just wondering.

Where do you think most things in your town would have been built before electricity and mechanical refrigeration were common/available?

.....start going for walks. This is the best time of year to find things that may be overgrown.

We passed through Eau Claire on our way back from the North Woods weekend before last. I found it... unbelievably infuriating =.= Ate some good pho though. I wish I had better intel to offer even by way of vague directions or neighborhoods but mostly what I saw in that area of the state was sprawl, suburbia, and bad street layouts. Over all we came up pretty dry in WI (fall color was gorg though and I've finally eaten the cheese curds to end all cheese curds and I now understand why my partner says everybody does them wrong down here). Next time, we'll go up/down the Milwaukee side of the state. Good luck!

I'll give you a dollar if you can get into the power plant at banbury place

I lived in the Eau Claire area most my life and in the city for at least two years. Banbury Place is the first thing that comes to mind as well. The building is HUGE and yes, certain parts I'm pretty are abandoned but there are so many businesses in the building it's probably not worth trying. I encourage anyone to at least walk through the part that's accessible though, it's rich in history and spooky as hell. Good Fun.

I wish I could recall other spots in the area but I can't. I'd bet money there are a lot though. Eau Claire is almost the same population as Oshkosh and bigger than Wausau so more opportunity for abandonment? :/

My dreams aren't too far from Eau Claire, so I have a definite interest in finding UE diversions near there. Like most of Wisconsin, there are few if any abandonments - everything quickly gets repurposed or demoed in WI - and not much from an underground standpoint either. Scouting a few locations here soon but I don't anticipate finding much, my main interest is simply being close by. These days, aside from following my dreams, I've been taking a lot of road trips to regions a few hours away seeking new underground, MN/WI just doesn't have much outside of you-know-where proper and everything there has been done, done, and overdone. That said, it'd be kinda fun if a community sprang up in the Chippewa Valley. It'd motivate me to be a little more involved locally.

Freak, I've actual BEEN to the Jimhole in your picture! It was the only one of the many silica mines in that suburban park that I was able to access. Every other one was secured better than any other mine I've ever been to, pretty much. Fuck California.

I think I actually read about an old superfund US ammo plant in the Eau Clair area this morning. Try looking for superfund lists of WI, I found it with about 5 minutes of Google searching.

A word of warning however, it's labeled a "superfund" site because the EPA labels the lubricant used in the manufacturing equipment as a hazardous material, and it hasn't been cleaned up. So take precautions if you check it out.

I've spent some time wandering around Eau Claire and yeah, Banbury Place was the one I found. It's worth wandering around the outside if it hasn't changed since I was there, the right side and the back have some cool abandoned sections. There are several abandoned houses within the county itself, just drive around and take a look through the trees, they're in there.

I just wandered around there the other night with my bros. It was pretty dead; only a few people doing yoga and artsy junk upstairs. Rode my first freight elevator that night, and after attempting the power plant, got told to leave by a very nervous security guard. We did technically explore the little two-story tower on the other side of the power plant, though!

Yah Relik it's a blast there, riding the elevators and just walking through the quiet empty halls in general. Spooky. I need to stop back in for old times sake next time I'm up there visiting friends I think.
