Another Abandoned House

Realizing that it had been some time since I had last posted something on here,I thought I would take the opportunity to share some pictures of this house that I just sort of stumbled upon on one of my daily walks. Taking a closer look, I found that there was no way to get inside without breaking in, and as I would prefer to avoid going to jail I refrained from trying to get inside.

As you can see, it appears to be structurally sound, aside from the deck at least, and with a little bit of yard work, could be made habitable again with little effort. Of course, there could be some major work needed inside, but from the little I managed to see, it didn't appear to be the case here. The strange part of this house is that it is located in the middle of a large subdivision, and should surely have been seen to by now, but it has clearly been vacant for some time.

I can't help but wonder what its story is.

Anyways, on to the pictures.

1.

As you can see the house itself appears to be in pretty good shape considering the condition of the yard.

2.

The driveway does appear to be in need of replacing. It's wavier than the ocean during a storm.

3.

There's as much growing in the gutter as the yard.

4.

So obviously it was supposed to be foreclosed on, but all entrances were padlocked, and not re-keyed as the notice in the next picture might suggest.

5.

So I'm not sure what the plan is, but I don't think anything will come of it just yet. Clearly, no one is worried about selling it or doing anything else with it any time soon.

6.

The front window as well as a few others are all boarded up.

7.

The smaller hole in the back deck. Seemed sturdy enough otherwise.

8.

The interior appears to be in pretty good shape, aside from that hole in the wall. I believe that is the dining room and then the living room. You can see the other side of the broken and boarded up living room window.

9.

One of the saplings that sprouted up through the rear deck near the hot tub.

10.

This appears to be a child's bedroom.

11.

And I managed to make a new friend while I was there. From what I was able to learn, the house wasn't the only thing that the former tenants abandoned. This cute little guy was abandoned as well. Apparently three or four neighbors have been taking care of him. He does appear to be in good shape, and is friendly enough to not be afraid to come up to me for petting.

All in all, a strange situation. I will be doing what research I can to find out more about the house.

I really hope i never come upon a friendly, abandoned kitty. I would have to bring it home. My cats wouldn't like that so much.

Same here. I'd never be able to leave an abandoned pet behind should I happen upon one myself someday. Poor kitty.

Yeah, I was sorely tempted to kidnap him, but knowing that he is being well cared for by the neighbors is good enough for me.

Also, I discovered that apparently, in mid 2007, this house sold for ~$412k. It was listed once after that,in 2010 if I recall correctly, but the listing was cancelled not long after. Nothing to report after that though haven't contacted the last/current owner.I'd really like to get a look around inside, but I'm not about to break in to do so.

Old saying; the dog goes with the family, the cat stays with the house.

Looks like somebody mowed the lawn?

I'm not sure about the lawn, but I didn't see any sign of a recent mowing, though why the grass is so short if it had been abandoned for as long as I think it was I have no idea.

Also, the house might look only mildly spooky in the day time, but in the middle of the night while listening to Midnight Syndicate is a whole other story.
