How do events work?

I am trying to find an event near LA, but I cant find any. Why can't I? Is it because there aren't actually any going on near here? I find that strange though because it seems like there would be a lot to explore in this area. If there aren't any local events, is there another city close by that may have events?

If it's not listed under the Events section, then there's probably not an event in your area.

The era of the big, open meets has more or less passed. It seems that now most meets are held by well-established communities of explorers and tend to be invite-only.

All that being said, there's no reason why you can't create your own event to try to bring like-minded explorers together to try to rejuvenate the meets.

The west coast in general doesn't have a lot of meets. Seattle has a great community, but that's about it over there. Like someone else suggested, host your own! I think a monthly meet is a really good idea for a place like LA that currently has no community. Not too long ago Atlanta had no community at all, until someone started hosting monthly meetups and within a year or so it grew into a huge community... Which today, if anything, is too big!

West coast. California in particular is full of fucking crybabies and rude ppl. That being said there is no reason why you can't start your own meet and see who shows up.

That's sad to know that.

I think that, once I become a more experienced explorer, I could start an event in the area. I am generally new to urbex, and while I have gone on quite a few adventures, I don't believe that I have gone on nearly enough to expect people to rely on me for finding a location and or guiding them to/through it. Making one is definitely one of my goals now, so thanks for all the info!
