This house was specifically built during the revolutionary war to hide the house behind it from soldiers from the british army marching down the streets,, to this day it still sits abandoned and empty protecting the house behind it, I got in for a blip of a nano second before the neighbors took notice and I took off, hence the one sole interior shot

Any idea what was so special about the house behind it that needed hiding? Is it able to be lived in or empty for a reason? Seems like a cool spot regardless.

Ive seen the exact opposite of this in Rhode Island at a house called cloud hill if memory serves. During times of war all houses and buildings visible from the coast were required by law to have blackout curtains on all coastal windows and they couldn't have any lights on after dark. The idea was to blackout the entire coast so the enemy couldn't draw a bead on anything they could fire upon, civilian or otherwise.

In this case it seems like they wanted a decoy, not necessarily to protect what was behind it (I'd check local building records) but rather to draw enemy fire to an abandoned area so that we could see their cannon's muzzle flash and then light that sonofabitch up light a christmas tree

I tend to love anything related to military history and this is right up my alley. I plan on visiting as many bases & forts as possible since they hold up well (lots of reinforced concrete) and you never know what you might find.

Good location & check the national register of historic places, its probably on there & it can give you alot of info on its neighbors
