Anyone here into stealth camping? If you know what it is, you know it is relevant to UER.

If you don't, basically is camping on public or private property where it is not allowed, so it should be done undetected.

You mean it is an actual hobby? Sure I've secretly camped and I bet most of us have, but it's more like a necessary evil to me. Camping is no fun without a good campfire, beer and laughter.

Well... Damn. http://stealthcamping.com/

Very little real information on the website. Looks more like a site to sell books and such, with just enough content that it doesn't look like Amazon.

A few weeks ago a friend and I camped on the beach just 7 miles from the North Korean border. There are armed patrols. Camping there is not allowed but we made it.

Sounds pretty ballsy

Does this count? A couple friends and I did an impromptu mini road trip to the redwoods while we were in oregon. None of us liked the idea of staying at some lame crowded campground that happened to be completely booked anyway. The park had some huge remote areas, so we decided to hike out to a secluded area and set up camp. We also made sure to cross a few streams to lessen the chances of anyone coming across our camp.

EDIT: Also did a bit of urban camping in a vacant building in a downtown area. It still had electricity and running water. Pretty luxurious actually, haha

Camping does not have to be combined with exploring to be considered stealth camping, just that the intent is to not be detected. If it is illegal to camp where you were, then it counts.

This video should help to give you some tips, even if you don't camp and you just want to get to your location. http://www.youtube...atch?v=KCdX8Z5R_w8

I didn't realize this was as much of a "thing" as it is! We do this all the time when we go up north for mine trips - we'll either camp on crown land if we can find it, or failing that we'll camp on the mine property itself. The sand that makes up dried tailing ponds is really soft and comfortable.

(Sorry for potato-quality shot... it's been marred by facebook's uploading)

Considering that Arab-American who recently was caught trying to swim the river up to North Korea, probably camping so close to the DML was an extra dangerous risk.

As I mentioned to you, another UER member recently passed through Korea and spent most of his time camped out under a bridge or in an underpass somewhere.

We got caught, but luckily they told us it's not a real problem, we should just leave early in the morning. They saw us after midnight, so I think they patrol thoroughly. And yes, I now know it was risky, or should I say, I know now.

Camping on crown land is legal but you have to move your camp every so many days (can't remember exact number). Lots of hunters do it, and move their camp maybe 10 feet LOL.

I went on a roadtrip with a friend, I was disgusted at paying 40 bucks a night to sleep in my own tent, but couldn't get my friend to just set up anywhere
