A New Meaning To "Armchair Explorer"

I went with a few friends on vacation to the Outer Banks back in June. I ended up falling from a three story balcony and hurting myself pretty bad. Long story short: 16 fractures, 3 hospitals, 2 surgeries, and 2 months before I finally made it home (with a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker, etc.) So it was a pretty rough summer health wise. After some new x-rays last week I got cleared to put partial weight on my right leg (the surgeries were to repair my hip and pelvis) and I can now start physical therapy. So I'm finally well on my way to walking again, just taking it day by day. This thread is a mix of photos from before the trip, during the trip, and a few I've taken the past couple weeks out in the good ol' wheelchair. Thanks for reading and viewing!

Nice shots!
2 questions, though:
Was the accident exploring related?
Was there alcoholic beverages involved?
Regardless, glad you're doing better! Hopefully you'll be running marathons soon!

Thank you.
Also the accident was not related to exploring. And yes, alcohol was involved. Unfortunately I wasn't drunk enough to not remember the fall or the landing. One of the most intense moments of my life. I got knocked out and went unconscious when I hit the ground, but the fall seemed like a lifetime. Here's a picture of one of the balconies, I was sitting on the railing at the top.(Not my shitty photo)

Love the photos from Avon and Bodie Island, and the one from Sleighton is sweet as well.
Where was the bungalow from your fall located? It looks like Corolla or Duck but your other pics are from Hatteras Island.
Fill me in, bro.

#4 is good. Where you in a wheelchair for that one? If not, I'm sure even on foot it was risky being there.

#8 is good too. What is the story behind that?

Hoping you get better soon, man.

We were actually staying at Sea Dunes in Kitty Hawk. I've been going down there since the mid 90s, my parents have a place there but it's up for sale now so that was like my last hoorah. I was with a few friends who explore so we checked out the water park and a mansion across the street. We set out to go to the Hatteras Light House but it was getting late, so we just hit Bodie on the way back. Despite the fall ending my vacation, I enjoyed the time we had before it. Thanks Ed! We need to chill at Budd soon!

Thank you sir!
#4 was not from the wheelchair lol. But I was definitely on some sketchy flooring taking that shot.

#7 and #8 are from a factory out here in Delaware that developed different fibers. Unfortunately demo is underway and it'll all be gone by the end of the year. Glad I got to see it when it was relatively untouched.

Indeed! Good thing that you were there before it becomes rubble.

Did you go up the Bodie Light before your fall?

Heckuva big lens in the top there.
