I have been developing an interest in urban exploring for a while, now, but finally went on what I believe will be my 'gateway' explore. I was out shooting some photos on the street when a cop who was passing by asked me if I was interested in 'historic' photography and pointed me to an abandoned warehouse. Not sure if he condoned my going in, and it would have been some really low entrapment if he didn't, but I digress...
Easy access through a partially-raised loading dock.
I really liked the lighting through the various skylights. The main floor was mostly clear.
Plenty of cables hanging from the ceiling.
One of the supports, with earplugs. Not sure what they were doing there, unless they had been there for quite a while.
The offices didn't look to be in all too good of condition.
Really loved the lighting coming in to this room. Wish I had grabbed my tripod from the car so I could crank up the exposure time. Next time...
Pleasant little stain...
More stains and a rather empty office.
Shortly thereafter I got spooked and headed out. It looked like there was quite the basement, too, and I didn't make it to all of the rooms.
I did some research afterwards - the building was constructed in 1946, but I couldn't find anything about what sort of distribution center it served as. I just know that for the last twenty-five years it has been owned by a family that owns a few local construction firms - perhaps they are holding on to it in case they ever need extra storage space.
Anyways, I had quite a bit of fun and am looking forward to going on some more excursions in the future. And, of course, critiques and suggestions are most welcome!
