Angels Landing

Ok I have a question.
And this is just a question and not a made up plan, but I think that many people here could give me a good answer.

And yes I know this is a little off topic as this is a question to get someone on a mountain, but I think that many here would be able to give me an answer on that specialized case.

I have a friend in a wheel chair, and I want to get him on Angels Landing.

If you Google Angel's Landing you will find out that it's an about 1500 feet high rock formation and that the last half mile of a hike is on a narrow path that can't be done by wheel chair or even by carrying someone, so hauling someone on top over the side of the mountain looks like the only option, besides a helicopter.

So what do you think, can something like this be done?

Yes, it could be done...But if you're asking here if it could be done, you probably don't have the experience to do it safely...

Also, it's not exactly an overhang...so it would be a whole lot of dragging on the slab. Also....1500 foot rope?!? That's gonna be heavy, not to mention expensive.

A helicopter would be a much easier, safer, and maybe cheaper alternative. I'm not sure the national park would allow it though...

And, again, it would be a helluva haul to carry someone up there, but it would be possible with something like this if you're a beast:

The park would allow it.

Last time I was there was in 2009 so I am a bit hazy on the exact details. Like you mentioned the last section is definitely not accessible to the differently abled. I would think the helicopter would be the best way. Using a wheelchair to the last section and then rigging some sort of litter the rest of the way seems like the second best option but would literally *tie up* the route for other visitors to safely pass and would still present quite the challenge.

I have never done any of the actual class 5 climbs up to the top, but from what MP says, it's around 900ft (Prodigal Sun) depending on the route. If you were going to set up a haul system, I would do it in stages with anchors every so often on good ledges if there are any. Sounds like even with extreme preparation and a team of very experienced helpers it would be an all day event.

As much as I cringe to suggest the use of a helicopter (because of the risk), it seems like the quickest and safest option.

EDIT

Yeah or just have someone do a carry. That Israeli thing may work alright, but I am sure with some webbing you could configure a much more suitable approach. I am sure if a weary climber can carry a small pig from there, you can find someone to carry your friend.
