Hi all, new here. I posted over in the welcome thread for anyone interested. I live in West Omaha (Elkhorn).
The neatest thing I have found while out is an abandoned "neighborhood" or camp or something. It's located near Plattsmouth.
I have tried researching about it but I can't find squat and I'm not to keen on sharing or asking about it due to I don't think but a handful of people know about it. My grandpa has a forest in his back yard that I went out in to explore. Its near two rivers meeting up. At first, we came across some random concrete pads and stairs in the woods. I then stumbled across a collapsed house, or what was left of it. Upon further walking with a friend we found multiple remnants of buildings, including one that fell into a wash out.
We have searched around and found some interesting things. We both collected about a dozen or so bottles (out of hundreds) and a few other things too. I found a porcelain P&G sign buried in the dirt along with a Studebaker hubcap. Later on we found the whole car rusting out in the ditch.
We noticed the "houses" went from newest to old foundation wise. The last one we saw before turning back was a stone foundation, almost like cobblestone.
I really want to get back out there if anyone would like to join me. I haven't really been down there with all the weeds etc so I don't know how "thick" it is.
Odd (water?) wooden passageway. Not sure what it was for but it was made out of wood. Maybe a crawl space for the previous building?
Some cash boxes full of dirt and rust. Not my lucky day I guess.
