This wasn't during an exploration, but on my way back from Iowa a few years ago I stopped on the side of the highway to take a picture of the 'Welcome to Illinois' sign with my cell phone and found a sledgehammer, very lightly rusted in a couple of spots. I put it in my trunk and took it home with me. I don't currently have a use for it, but now I have one just in case.

I found a Remington Taser at a old closed down Jail. It was in with there old log books while i was going through them. Lots of awesome history for a jail that dated back to the 1800's.

Well that's just exploring in Atlanta for ya, never know what you find in the hood.

http://i902.photob...ticle/100_7777.jpg

Seriously though I would never think of taking it home with me, never know if it was stolen and/or used in a murder. I just wouldn't want that type of liability hanging around the house. Getting quick cash for it? With my luck I would probably end up trying to sell it to that NotTheCops guy, just my luck. Shoot some pics and leave it be. Want weapons, buy some from a show.

I'm about 90% sure that's airsoft, but on the off-chance it isn't, it's capable of fully-automatic fire. I know AKs pretty well.

Its a milled receiver, see the lightening cut above the mag well? Have never seen an airsoft gun that emulates a milled receiver AK since even real ones are pretty rare. Most likely Norinco which =/= full auto fire. Looks like the bayonet lug has been milled off as well which fits the Norincos. They did make a milled receiver underfolder. Decent chunk of change if it was picked up and sold, close to 4 figures fairly easily.

I can tell it's a milled receiver. I've seen plenty of milled-receiver airsoft AKs. I own one, in fact, though it's a cheap plastic POS that I'd only ever use as a prop for a video or something.

As for your saying that Norinco =/= full auto, that's not necessarily true. The way you can tell the difference between whether it is full-auto or not is by the number of axis pins. Civilian AKs only have two; one for the trigger group and one for the hammer. Full-auto AKs require a third for the auto sear, which the AK pictured there does have. Doesn't matter what brand it is. Speaking of axis pins, it doesn't look like they're even big enough to be actual axis pins.

The fact that it's Norinco at all is hard to say since I can't get a very good look at the front sight block. If it's hooded, it's almost guaranteed Norinco. If not, it's some Eastern European AK. Like I said, hard to tell from that photo.

Also, if this wasn't good enough, take a look at the magazine. I don't know about you, but I don't see any feed-lips, and if I'm right there's no way in hell that's a functioning mag.

And since you mentioned the bayonet lug being milled off, that's not really an uncommon thing to see, depending on certain factors. That specific type of gas block wouldn't have a bayonet lug to begin with, nor would the front sight block. It may have teeth, but that's also hard to tell with that pic. My best guess is it's got an AK 47 gas block and an AKM front sight block.

But anyways, I feel like I'm derailing this thread a bit.

As the title says, has anyone come across weapons while on a exploration? Guns, knives, swords, rocket launchers??

Me and a friend found this in a abandoned warehouse that had been last used as a bottle and can recycling center. It was on the top floor, just laying out in the open. I know very little about guns, so this may be some sort of airsoft gun. I nudged it with my foot and it was pretty heavy, we decided it was best not to touch it or pick it up though.

Anyone else have a good weapon related story??

That is an airsoft gun. Used to have one just like it.

I was walking along a creek and as I passed underneath a roadway bridge , and noticed that there were swords and knives on the ground. There were like 3 ornate daggers and 4 different styled swords just strewn about. I still can't really explain it. Friend's best guess was an angry wife through a dude's collection off the road haha.

I was alone, exploring a 51,000 square foot Chinese Restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts. The site had been abandoned since 1999 and was dark and creepy. I saw this knife out on the roof and while I have no idea how to use one, decided to take it with me just in case. Fortunately, I didn't need it so I gave it to my buddy when he came to pick me up.

I was exploring abandoned caves and mining warehouses with a few friends and we came across hundreds of shotgun shells all over the main surface of the area. Later inside one of the buildings, we discovered what we found out later to be cyanide powder. It's a good thing we always explore with gas masks and goggles or else we could have gotten sick.

Pretty common (at least where I live) for people to go out to old mining areas to shoot on the weekends. Generally people leave their trash and the companies who still own the land end up having to clean it all up when they sell or reopen the property.
