you should start at the robotics forum, and realize that it will get you nowhere fast.

Actually, just do some shit in the area (whatever it is), don't brag too much on here or jeopardize a location's accessibility, but just enough to let the region know you're serious and not a fucktard jerkoff jackoff idiot, and chicago explorers will contact YOU, instead of you trying to hook up with them.

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!

There are multiple groups but only one that matters. They don't require you to kiss their ass but they do require you not to be a fuck-tard.

With talk like they are so exclusive, they contact you - you don't contact them, and they are the only one that matters - sure doesn't sound like it.

This part was kind've a joke.
What i mean to say is there is only one group i have personally explored with, but i have heard of another group(s) being in existence. The one i personally know is the only one that matters to me. ;]

They're in Chicago. ;]

There really is a pretty active group, but they're pretty exclusive. I'm not sure what to recommend, other than try to run into them in an abandoned building or on a rooftop. A couple of them do very occasionally pay a visit to the great UERZ, but typically they try to avoid the drama that is the great UERZ.

Are you talking about the Old crowd? I call them the 40+.
Super drama island there. In fact, any contact with them seems to draw drama. Funny at times but people I don't even know or have ever spoken to got mental with me for just associating with those people.

Raven (and all those interested), check out the burnt up, popular spots. Have met a bunch of explorers in Gary Indiana and the Damen Silos. Just by wandering around. Post a bunch of urbex photos in places Chicago people might see them. You will draw other explorers as well...

Exploring the Ancient Ruins of Modern Society..

Have you ever said, "I wonder whats in there."

Everyone keeps saying that Chicago has a fantastic urbex community but no one suggests how to find it. If MonoxideChild is correct and most of the Chicago peeps aren't on this site, does anyone know where they are??

you have to do a lot of research on your own. google maps is your best friend. just start looking online... it is as easy as searching "abandoned illinois"

good luck!

I've met some wonderful people while exploring in Chicago. Yes, I've met some from that "exclusive" group too. If people are mean to you, there's no need to even bother with them. Chicago's got a big enough scene for everyone. Just find a crew that you like and likes you back.

Best of luck out there!

Yea, it's been 9 months since I been sleeping at my abandoned building. But I do know people come in the summer months since often I see closed doors left open.

Bumping this instead of starting a new thread, but I'll be in town next week if you (or anyone) wants to explore. Abandoned stuff, roofs, whatever, been some years since I lived in the city so having someone more up to date on the scene couldn't hurt.
