Yea, same here. I got two pages in before I realized I knew exactly who this was, because she started messaging me on Instagram a few months ago yelling at me for posting the name of the town that a house I photographed was in. Apparently her and her friends had found and "cleaned" it out a few months before I found it myself (or my brother, actually). She mentioned this incident in passing too but made it seem like someone else had ratted her out and of course neglected to mention the part where she dropped a bunch of names.

I've actually broken into my friend's home. She lives in a pretty well secured apartment building, she knew i was going to do so and was okay with it. Was mostly just fun evading all the security measures without getting caught.

Friend: Hey listen, there's nothing good on HBO tonight, so is it okay if I break into your house and try not to get caught?
Me: ...I'm moving. Far, far, away.

Okay, call her an imbecile, but unfortunately she's got an eye and talent that I know I can't match. Look at "Last Days of Earth" on her website: http://www.karenjerzykphoto.com/

Aside from a cheesy finish, her bio is also worth a gander.

Yes she was a scumbag-steve explorer, she made some stupid mistakes after breaking into someone's home. That being said, she has a talent and a unique set of circumstances and frankly, has handled them extremely well.

If photography skills were all that mattered, the UE community would look very different from how it is.

Bloody hell, i am a tad jealous of people who can pull off awesome portraits in abandoned buildings. I probably could do some awesome things if i knew anyone who was into modeling, but i don't care enough to pay anyone to do it. I never put any effort or time into planning my shots when i'm exploring, half the time i don't even bother taking pictures. I need to get back into that. I've been into photography for as long as i can remember, i was even a professional for a short while.

Maybe this is a thing i should get into. In *actual* abandoned places.

Unfortunately, yep. The community would likely love anyone who could pull those images off without throwing the entire method of urb-ex under the bus.

She's similar to (though never anywhere as legendary as) a Michael Jackson sort of character. Not exactly a model citizen by any means, and clinically speaking, probably not "okay", but it's still some .. passionate.... art.

Well really, are any of us "model citizens"? I mean, we constantly commit trespassing laws in the name of exploration...

Obviously a model citizen is a person who pays their taxes, watches out for neighbors, and trespasses from time to time before writing about it on uer.ca.

I was talking more like baby-dangling or, y'know... home invasion.

quite frankly I don't give a fuck. integrity as an explorer of abandoned locations trumps photographic ability six ways from sunday. don't be a photographer if you can't handle the other obligations and responsibilities that come with exploring.

the way I see it, you have to first EXPLORE before you can begin taking photos.....sooooooooo if you're a really shitty explorer (wouldn't matter if she was a rat, vandal, stole stuff, anything) your photos really mean nothing because I'd take the ability to see a location for myself over looking at someone's art gallery
