This plant was abandoned in 1959 and this facility has somehow managed to avoid being completely demoed. The coal stack is 210 feet and the machinery was used to power the plant before the power grid system (plants were responsible for providing their own power). This plant has some rare examples of early 20th century power and cooling technology.

Staaaaaaaacks

Nice set! It's so mysterious to me, how some things hang around for ages and other things are instantly obliterated. I know there are a lot of factors involved like cleanup costs and hazards and who is responsible for the expense and whether an area government has budget to take it on. Still though. Power plant I'd been eyeballing this summer was closed last November, barely made it six months before it was flat.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.
