Hello All! I am new to this site so I hope I'm not breaking protocol or posting something stupid--if so please forgive me
I am from Metro Detroit in Michigan, US and have noticed that we have become a sort of mecca for urbex folks and with good reason. We have lots and lots of beautiful abandoned places here just waiting for a good explore
However, as a resident and avid explorer I would caution folks who would like to visit the more blighted residential areas for abandoned house explores. Detroit is one of the coolest, nicest, friendliest places in the world BUT we have some serious problems with crime.
Please use caution when exploring off the beaten path. My neighbor is a restorer/house flipper in the more distressed areas and he feels he has to carry a gun just to protect himself and his employees. He routinely comes across dead bodies, junkies, aggressive metal thieves, would-be muggers etc.
That said, as a urbexer and native Detroiter, packs of wild dogs couldn't drag me away from this area--oh, by the way, there actually are packs of wild dogs........
