I've been getting tired of waiting for Crack the Surface III to come out so I've decided to make a documentary on my own. I'm thinking of having explorers upload videos to Dropbox and message me when they do - I'll spend a few minutes showcasing each city and what the guys there do. I'm looking for a good variety of places, (subways, construction, towers etc.) - the more creative the explore, the more likely it will make the cut. I recommend you either send footage from places that are unrecognizable or demolished if you want to showcase cool stuff but also keep it on the DL.

This doc will only be as good as your submissions are - hoping to get a fair volume so I can have this done before the end of 2014. I don't want any funding, only footage. Feel free to start each video with "I'm (alias) and I'm in (your city's name). Looking forward to your thoughts and submissions!

I'm almost finished with my urbex web series. Should be finished and out by the end of summer. If I have left over footage, I'll send you some stuff.

This video was shot last summer ni Belgium, but I'm working on more video editing at the moment, mostly explores in my hometown Montreal, Canada.

Edit : this is far from the quality of such films as Crack the Surface (and yes, I'm awaiting for the sequel with great excitement) and Undercity, because I don't have the gear and skills to make such nice movies...

So... it's not so much that you want to make a documentary of your own as that you want to assemble other people's work and take partial credit.

Yeah...

You should make an urbex musical instead. Imagine the greatness of lines of chorus girls in a storm drain singing their hearts out. "Oh! the underground! Don't make a sound! Lest you be found!"

I think this is a great idea and I hope you do it. Assemble awesome footage from all over and give us another Crack the Surface whether you filmed it or not. I haven't had enough. You can use some of my footage, just give credit and reference the show Phobia and I are working on, for where to see more stuff from this coast. I'll get with Phobia and see what we can send you.

UE is growing whether we like it or not, but it will also die back down. Those of us here to stay will ride the wave just like other fads. We were doing it before, during and after it was a fad. Putting out high quality video is no different than putting out high quality photography. Graffiti writers have been putting out kick-ass underground video of exploits for decades now. It's great entertainment and an interesting peek into their world. Same for good UE/infil footage, in my opinion. Why is there so little good UE video? Let's change it.

Don't do that.

Seriously, use people's footage if they give it to you, but don't take it. Not cool. Otherwise I hope fox and NBC news come and use your pictures in evening news spots warning about the dangers of this "new urban exploring the kids are doing these days' and don't pay you a dime for their use.

A lot of people seem very unclear about my intentions. No, this is not for profit/exposure/mainstream media. The mainstream media will probably not even know this exists - it's a small collaboration, not a budget film. I am not posting anything where the locations/POE seem very apparent, unless they've been demo'd. I will also have plenty of my own footage to put up. I am sorry if this didn't seem apparent before, but it should be now.
