The link to the article is below.

These idiots tell of locations, POEs, and more in an interview to a local paper. Now all my friends are blowing me up asking to go to these places. A lot of the locations are still there. All to sell books and pictures. Now I know how you all feel. These people tell the entire world WHERE and HOW to get in. Plus they are now responsible for anyone who follows their directions and gets hurt or killed. I seriously would like to have harsh word with these people. (edited because everyone thought i really meant to do something crazy)

Never heard or met either of them, but from searching on FB, quite a few people i know are friends with them. Is everyone trying to turn into Seph Lawless, and write a fucking coffee table book?

I've only skimmed the article, but I've explored with Eric and I thought he was a decent guy. St Laurence Church has apparently been demolished, so if you're worried about that one, forget it. And he never spilled the beans on one of the locations I went with him, so he seemed pretty trustworthy.

As far as the others, I don't see the POE details that were leaked. If you've read it, please quote the parts of this rather long article so we can better appreciate what details are being given away.

Edit: I've read most of it and I don't see where any POE details were given away. St Laurence was the only one described in fairly good detail and it was being demolished at the time of the article so I don't see what the problem is. It's gone now.

then again his website does list a few locations by name. Since they're not local to me, I'm not sure how sensitive they are, so it would take a local to make the appropriate or not call.

But he still doesn't have the location that we explored together (in 2012) on his site, so I guess he's still not spilling the beans on it and for that I tip my hat.

Brach's is under demo, i believe.

I didn't really read the article. I don't have the attention span to do so.

St. Laurence is the church that both Dawn Patrol and I recently shared photos of in separate posts. As you could see from my very first picture the POE isn't exactly a secret.

As for the buildings listed in Gary, well, I laughed at the description of entering the Screw and Bolt factory since that would be the very unnecessarily difficult way to get in. There isn't a sealed door on the place, much less a door at all. Likewise City United is right downtown and is wide open. I always see people there, you're never alone (except on the day we went in the middle of a blizzard, then we had the place to ourselves). Sheraton? Same story, wide open. Anyone with functioning eyes and the capacity to walk around the building will find a way in with out any effort at all.
Let's face, Gary is the cakewalk of Urbex, it really doesn't get much easier than visiting there. They're not exactly giving away locations and all of those spots are already on the Chicago tagger's lists of place to vandalize already.
Good lord you should see what they did to one school, that place was tore up this spring, scrappers got most of the window frames on the east side of the building, all the science equipment is gone and taggers covered several rooms literally floor to ceiling. I've heard another place got hit by scrappers too and all the chandeliers are gone from the auditorium.

Regarding the Chicago locations, Brach's and Reese Hospital are gone. Well, Brach's is mostly gone. Edgewater and Ravenswood hospitals have upped security as of this spring and from what I've heard even the taggers are staying away (Ravenswood is near a friends home, she says they've got got security who actually patrols frequently and they're catching people a few times a week, so if you make it in kudos!) Lawndale Theater I know nothing about.

I agree that it sucks that so much attention is being drawn to urbex, I feel like I got into it right as it was starting to get a lot of media attention so as a result there are a lot of places which I'd love to visit that I'll never get to see. I'm not the most physically adept person and I have a major fear of getting caught so that limits the places I can go as security is increased and they actually start sealing up entrances in a serious manner. I'll keep poking around though, because I love these places.

I agree with Av on this one, but I will say you'd be surprized how people lose their mind when the taste of some sort of main stream media fame presents itself...

Back in the day I got an offer to do a piece for the hallmark channel and I was fully ready to show the producer my ways into Danvers state and what not over the thought of "being on TV " in the end the producer chickened out and I ended up taking him to a bunch of low key places but, we schlep along with the herd of urbexers and sometimes that glint of mass media recognition makes us lose or common sense and principals. ive seen it happen to the best of us over the years

They indeed got them, somehow - if you're referring to the place I think you are. Also; Lawndale Theatre is in demo.

You would be suprised how frequently cops email explorers in the Midwest trying to probe details out of us. They're not as smart as the fbi though.

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!

Really? In the 12 years that UER has been operating, I've never once received an email from the police, the feds, or the government. Not even a friendly inquiry.

I've had some property owners contact me and ask to have their locations removed, in one case it was a house that was formerly abandoned but was now lived-in again.

I've explored with Eric Holubow before. He's a decent guy and taught me a lot. One time I fell into deep freezing water in a basement of a Chicago location. He had hand warmers and other stuff with him, enough to keep me warm for the rest of the shoot. I'm glad that the article mentions the gear he brings with him.

Eric is also a very talented photographer. I've seen his work posted in various galleries even. Getting the shots he does requires a lot of energy, effort, and physical exertion. At the end of the day he's entitled to create something beautiful and share it with the world.

This topic is seriously starting to get old. Many people are in this hobby to share the locations and history with those that don't know it's even there or will never make the effort to see it.

None of your locations will remain secrets forever.

Seph Lawless isn't a problem because he wants to create a book or share his photos/locations with the world. He's a problem because he's just a terrible human being.

I'm usually pretty big on keeping sensitive places on the downlow, but none of the stuff in this article was even remotely sensitive IMO.
And Chi-Ex - if you were to "mess up" Katherine, you'd have a pretty big line of explorers who would be delighted to return you the favor. She's really nice, has a lot of friends in the community, and has been exploring stuff longer than probably 90% of regular UER posters.

And Av - it's great for you that you've never been contacted by the police about exploring stuff. That doesn't mean other explorers haven't been. As someone mentioned, nearly everyone in MSP with any sort of web presence (and some without) has been contacted at some point.
