I am looking to get into Fort Carroll. I was wondering if anyone has been and if they could offer tips on how to actually enter.

Looks like you're going to need a boat.

You're better off posting this in the proper local section.

Good luck!

One of the fun parts about exploring is going without knowing what's going to happen. Just embark upon the adventure. If you figure out a way in, awesome! If not, at least you had a fantastic time kayaking. =D

You need a powered boat, a kayak would be overcome by the current. You need to look out for the maritime police & grumpy boat captains. You need to have a boat driver that can get out of the area after you get dropped off; and you need to be able to climb those walls since they have been cemented since the 90s.

All and all its very doable, just plan ahead. If you want something a little simpler, look into the hospital in the middle of a NY river. That would be a good start.

PS: Post some pics when you have returned!

I may get a beat down for sayin this but why would you miss out on all the fun of finding your own way in?

I know its becoming popular to ask for entrance tips in the public forum but why not do some research and recon? You might experience 100% more fun by exploring your way in.

i typically do enjoy finding my own way in. my reason for asking on this one is because it will be a water mission and there isn't much room for trial and error. its more of a one shot thing.

Mhmm, yes, you will require one of these. Made in Columbia, I think. sometimes referred to as a "narco-submarine"

and perhaps a grapple gun for added effect.

I've never attempted fort Carroll. The only water mission I did was taking an inflatable raft out to a swing bridge in the middle of the water that was also in Baltimore. But that area doesn't have giant cruise and cargo ships that cause massive wakes.

Edit:

Also. It's a bird sanctuary. And be prepared to take precautions against bird shit which can cause lung infections and being caught there disturbing protected bird species could be a pretty serious issue.

I used a canoe to get out there, wasn't too hard but bring a friend. As others have said, thousands of birds live here, the island smells of fish and there is shit EVERYWHERE. So...you might want your P100. Check out my photoset and let me know if you have any questions about it.
