Title says it all, have you ever found evidence of other explorers at a site? Or even run into them while they're still there?

On a recent explore, we actually had both. We found a strap for a cheap headlamp near the P.O.E., and later had a conversation with another group through a small hole. We didn't end up meeting face to face.

Anyway, after that I was curious, and thought you guys might have stories.

Beer bottles.

That's so you know the Beer Command was there first. You can thank us for the POE's by sending more beer.

Yup, happened to be filming a video at the time. As we were leaving we heard voices on the fire escape, only way in or out of the building.

Mostly empty cans of energy drinks littered around.

A little bit of poo from time to time.

I've run into other explorers a fair few times, including one location in Belgium where I ran into three other groups at once, the location wasn't that big either...My default response when seeing people who obviously aren't any kind of security in a location is to wave at them to show them we aren't going to pose a risk to them, half the time they go on their ways but occasionally they stop for a chat once the initial 'who is it' edginess has gone.

Evidence - mostly quotes on dusty windows or other dusty surfaces. Twice - advertisement of a local urbex forum.

Once a fellow explorer lost his camera in flooded bunker. There was nearly a zero chance it could still function but after a week or so we went after the camera, nobody replaced it although the bunker got dozens of visitors each day.

We used to leave our nick names or initials on chalk boards, dirty windows and one group in DFW even put Mr. Yuk stickers in conspicuous places to indicate a message written in UV ink.

Then Al Gore invented the Internet and Av invented UER so we didn't need secret messages anymore.

Footprints, feces, booze bottles may or may not indicate explorers, any bum can make tracks, shit in a stairwell and toss his empty 40oz.

Camera/card with u.e. type pics would speak for itself.

My exploring partner 94810 515045 and I found a sticker recently that was a reference to deggi5.com, which had been unknown to us up until that point (we're both pretty new to this hobby, at least in an organized sense). You probably already read it, but if not, here is the thread:

http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=115558

A few other times I have seen what I believe to be evidence of explorers. Once, I was checking a staircase which leads down underneath a building, and the top of the staircase is protected by a gate and a cage of those bent metal stakes to prevent someone climbing over them. Right next to the gate on the ground, I found a metal pole of just the right length to slip through the bars of the cage and push the push-bar of the gate open from inside. The angle was perfect too; once the gate had been pushed open, I could take my hands off the metal pole and the tension would hold everything in place. Clearly I found someone's key to passing the gate. I stashed the pole in a nearby garden and have yet to go back and check out the staircase.

Another time, I found a manhole that had graffiti written all around the rim, as well as a metal plate which had been bolted over the manhole cover so it could not open. One of the bolts to this cover was missing, and the cover would loosely spin around on the remaining bolt. Again, I didn't go inside, but I am almost certain that the graffiti was left to mark this manhole as a possible place to explore.

PS... I have plans to check both of these at some point.

I still leave my name everywhere I go.

If she's willing to please by astroberkman17, on Flickr

In this particular school I brought a bunch of chalk (maybe an erasure too?) and on one of the boards it says something to the effect of "The Class of UE is now in session, please sign below to mark your attendance".

I do tend to write my name in dust on a window or in chalk etc, I know some people get snotty about it as it's 'omg graffiti' but it's not really!

Me and my old mate Flubber used to get about a lot, sadly he totally disregarded the 'bros before hoes' code and abandoned me
