To celebrate my newly minted full member status, I am going to share with you a nice little gem from the remote California Valley. This place holds special appeal to me, mainly because it got me back into running.

You see, the route up to the house is in clear view of the road and I didn't want to be seen. So, I started into a decent run to cover the distance quicker and avoid being caught. Man, I felt like crap afterwards! As I took these pics, my lungs burned and I coughed non stop. From then on, I took up running again and am even a triathlete now!

Enough about me. From what I can tell, this place was last lived in around the early 50s. The property was still inhabited, but the new ranch house is at the other end of the property over the hill. From what I could tell, they left this place as is and moved to the other end. It makes me wonder if somebody died here, and that is what facilitated the move. Given that folks tend to be sort of reclusive out here, I didn't wanna go banging on doors to ask : )

Location is in the LDB. Watch the floors though. The bedroom I went in felt like I1.

Just saw this in the DB. Great looking location. I love how untouched it is.

It was a pretty lucky find. Given how bad everything is sagging, it will not be standing much longer. I hope to add a few more local spots to the DB soon. Its looking a little anemic in my area!

This is really cool. Farmhouses have a lot of history most people overlook. It does make me wonder why most farmers don't knock down abandoned homes on their property, but maybe it is for a personal reason? Either way, it makes for a great explore and it's not like we're complaining

They probably just don't want to create more work for themselves. It's going to collapse eventually, so why going through the trouble?

Nice set, azuro.

Good point. There are a lot of old ranch houses out in this area that are just like that.

There is one that I am trying to gain access to that was abandoned during the Great Depression. It was pretty well sealed up when they left. Everything inside is just as is was in the early 30's. The guy who can give me access is a friend of a friend, so I can't just poke and prod him about it all the time.

There is another house off of 101 that has also been abandoned for a long time. I am still trying to find my pics of that one. A tree fell on it, and the owners just walked away.
