Urbex will never be secret because before it was called Urbex it was called just hanging out in abandoned buildings. People have been doing this for centuries. Thats why you have such a varied age difference on these boards. Hell my father is in his 70s and he still does it when his knees still let him lol.

Long time Urban explorer, who wants to push my love for the abandoned world into the art community.

Yep thats the way it is. Even if you don't tell anyone where the picture was taken, people are really good at figuring it out on their own. If you really care about a place remaining untouched, don't post any pictures.

Agreed. This sort of shit pisses me off when something's been boarded up for future preservation, but I otherwise enjoy the rot. When it comes to vandalism, well, the inevitable human intervention is organic in its own right. Lest I forget, I was once that kid who sought out abandoned buildings to smash shit. Of course this is a bit different, but who's to say the culprit didn't stumble upon the location on their own? When I was that punk kid there was no Urbex™ (that I had heard of, anyway), just good 'ol fashioned hookey, wandering around town with too much energy and nowhere to go. We didn't have digital cameras. People weren't posting this shit on the net. We could all have had our tongues cut out and the most hidden locations would become common knowledge just as fast. Don't get me wrong, I think the secrecy is good, but this is not some elite sport. Cops and Pinkertons need the UE community to bust trespassers about as much as taggers need it to tag as much as the homeless need it to stay dry.

But, I see a bright side to this desecration. Had some asshole not done that, those logos may have just rusted away. Now, they're likely to survive generations. Hopefully they'll find their way from the underground into a proper museum where the public can enjoy them.

Still a classless cuntscab sort of move, though.

This is true. Though it would have been better if the whole machine was saved and sold by the owner.

For the most part yes.

But there are places that have been abandoned for decades that remain in the same state they were left.
