In an abandoned mall in Thailand, an ecosystem was discovered to have grown over time due to the missing roof of the building. Like the article says, someone introduced fish to the pool and bada-bing bada-boom: an urban aquarium that would be pretty freaking awesome to come across while exploring. You go, mother nature.

I'd be terrified to find fish in the flooded remains of ANYTHING. But it does look awesome!

Afraid you'll be sleeping with the fishes? Haha it does, it's amazing what happens to these places after they decay.

It would confuse the hell out of me as to how fish would get in there.

I've been seeing pics of this place for some time now and some of them are quite beautiful but I think there may be more to the story than simply nature taking over. If you look closely that is a shit ton of fish that would need a considerable and constant amount of food to reach that size, not to mention some way of processing waste buildup to prevent die off. It seems to me more possible that the photographers have come across an illegal fish farm operation. This would explain the neighborhood reluctanc to expose this place for loss of income. Just my theory. This in no way makes the pics any less awesome though.

It could have happened without human intervention. It seems like a shit ton of fish, but that's not unusual for Koi and Catfish. We may just be looking at their feeding ground. Both types of fish can thrive sufficiently on algae to reach that size, and the algae thrives on their waste.
Of course, this doesn't mean that someone isn't running an illegal fish farm...
