Anyone up for potatoes tomorrow? I'm still a maybe, but it's a distinct possibility that I might show up for a one-person meetup, with any other people being a bonus.

It's strange... I'm the only one physically here, but I have this awesome feeling of comaraderie. Like, eight levels of awesomeness (and a basement besides). Can't beat it!

I saw the DFW meet n greet but no one has RSVP'ed. Is there anyway someone could invite me to an event. Not a spot or anything as I want to meet people.

Right. Although we seem to have a fairly active community here on the Southern forum, unfortunately the meet-and-greet’s generally do go un-RSVP’d and unattended. Which I imagine gives the gracious host, RobertB, somewhat of a complex.

Maybe it’s because we’re really busy people. Maybe it’s because we’re all spread out across the metroplex and Ft. Worth is a bit of a drive for some folks. Maybe it’s because we’re a bunch of introverted nerds who’d rather socialize from behind a keyboard than face to face. Maybe group explorations just aren’t our cup of tea.

I’ll admit that all those excuses apply to me. But recently I had the opportunity to attend an impromptu meet-and-greet/explore. And it was fantastic. And now I understand how meeting up and sharing info with others can be beneficial to our craft. Truly, after that experience I am motivated to attend another.

That being said, not sure I can commit to the April event (mainly for the first excuse mentioned above). But I will remain hopeful for the next month, and the month after that, etc. And I would like to thank RobertB for his patience and commitment to the success of the dee-eff-dub-meet-n-greet.

Also agree with this, quite interested meeting others learn a few things, and talk about experiences.
Ill keep my eye out join one with a few people going.

So the best thing to do is say "I'm definitely going to be at the next one on the event page" and just go. RobertB has been there the last few months, and bless him but he's been there along the last few months. All it takes is two people saying "Hey, I will be here" and then meeting each other.

The meet and greets are designed to allow you to meet other explorers. sometimes you go do things afterwards, sometimes you don't. We've been doing pretty good the last few months in Houston. I've met some rad people. As long as two people are there...progress is made.

Also, if y'all make it down to Houston, we're always pretty welcoming.

as astro said - just go to one of the meet ups - if no one is there, no one is there (likely scenario) but you never know who might show up. we had a great group a couple of weeks ago!

Lol, I appreciate the kudos - but I haven't made most of the meetups, either! But I do want to make sure the DFW meetup stays at least nominally active - it's the oldest recurring meetup in the UER system, so we can't let it die.

I've set it in Dallas at the moment, mostly so it will be someplace I might accidentally show up at on a Saturday afternoon. Potato Flats on the other side of the Bridge to Ray's Supporting Goods is relatively cheap and full of vitamins and starch to get you ready for whatever happens after.

I'm working on getting back on the exploring track, so maybe I'll be able to start banging the drum again. See you there (maybe)!

There are three folks signed up for tomorrow's meetup, and I'm a definite maybe myself. It would be a great chance to get a bunch together and see if we can find the new outfall for the Rat Race.

Didn't you mention a thread got started from our last meet-n-greet? Maybe I just skimmed over it, I'll check again. I haven't been on the forum since we met, things got really hectic last week and we got hit a couple days ago by those tornados that came through. :/ Are you going to the next meet-n-greet next week? I'm going to try to make it!

Looking at the picture again, you can really see the fluorescent orange spots from surveyors working on the Kidd Springs drain. I think I'm going to make definite plans to check it out for real after the next meetup, because there's going to be big changes to it Any Day Now. That's why the city has fenced off big stretches of lawn (and, for some reason, a sand volleyball court) in Kidd Springs Park. There's concern about the stability of the horseshoe vault, and a desire to "daylight" the springs.

These PDF's on councilman Scott Griggs' site show that there's a lot the city doesn't know, including what's in the basement of a certain house.
