I just came back from a trip to Yosemite. It was my second visit, and just as spectacular as the first.

I know this isn't technically urban exploration, but I think Yosemite's beauty is worth sharing. If the admins disagree, I will take this post down.

If you haven't been to Yosemite, I would strongly encourage you to plan a trip there. As with anything, the photos which follow barely do justice to the reality. Thanks for looking.

01. Early morning, sun shining on the distant cliffs.

02. Fallen sequoia.

03.

04.

05. The view of Half Dome from the Upper Yosemite Falls trail.

06. At the top of Yosemite Falls, approaching the cliff.

07. At the shallow summer falls.

08. Collecting pool at the top of the falls.

09. The pool feeds the faint stream which become the falls.

10. Went for a dip in the pool.

11. Made new friends at the summit.

12. Looking over the edge.

13.

14.

15. The next morning. These clouds were boiling and rolling on unseen air currents.

16.

17.

18.

19.

20. Vernal Falls, heavy with mist.

21. The top of Vernal Falls.

22. The bridge to Nevada Falls.

23. Nevada Falls.

24. Looking up the cliff.

25. The top of Nevada Falls.

26. Half Dome on the far left, Nevada Falls on the right, as seen from the John Muir trail on a cliff side across the panorama.

27. The cliffs at sunset, on our departure.

I agree that Yosemite is amazing and worth sharing, but this isn't the place for it.

Is there a specific subforum dedicated to outdoor exploration that I can move this to?

Actually speaking of abandonments, I have an unknown building in Yosemite that I cannot find any info about.

It is a completely sealed building off of Cook's Meadow flat in the middle of the Valley. The bottom is boarded up but a top window was open when I visited.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, nice pics SurlySilverback! Yosemite is a great place to go.

Come to think of it, I did see a few buildings in Yosemite that looked unmaintained by the park. One of them might have been that one.

I'll do some digging and see what I can find.

Looks like old NPS housing from before the budget cuts. There's a lot of unused buildings in the parks now since their budgets have been slashed.

That would make a lot of sense. There were still beds and desks in there, but little else.

I don't know. But urban exploration is the exploration of man-made structures, not natural.

That's a full member only forum. Not full member.

Still gotta earn my way up to that, unless an admin wants to move it. I hope it isn't deleted outright - that was a lot of copying and pasting image tags. lol

In the mean time, people can continue to either "ooh and ahh" or pelt me with rancid tomatoes.

This isn't the place, but I appreciated your photos nonetheless.
By the way, # 9 looks like "The friend feeds the faint stream which become the falls."
