Friday afternoon on the backroads

I hit the gravel last Friday to find new locations and visit an old favorite.

Both of these farmsteads are within several miles of one another. Nothing too exciting, but old farms are my favorite places. I didn't want to go inside either of them because I was alone and without bug spray and proper shoes. I've invited a friend of mine to try UE, so hopefully I'll be back soon.

Thanks! Aren't they amazing? The exterior details of the house are beautiful in themselves, and can be seen much better during the winter, obviously. That's why I posted the link to a winter photo on Flickr. It almost looks like a different house when the seasons change.

I love old farmsteads. Most of them that I've found are pretty much untouched. A couple look like people just walked away and might walk back in at any moment to find me in their house. I'd be like, "Sorry, your grass is two feet tall, your door is pretty jacked up, there's dust everywhere and there's moss growing on your bed. I thought the place was abandoned. I'll leave you be now. Unless you need help changing your sheets or something".

Go Rurbex!

Talk about 'haunted' looking. Thanks for posting.

I've been in the second house before, and it's full of stuff left behind by the last occupants. It's been vacant for about a decade. Next time I go back, I plan on having someone with me, so I don't have to go in alone.

Wow. That house is just amazing. I agree, the vines really add to it. Everyone who has an abandoned farmhouse on their current property seems to just leave it standing even if it's right in the front yard. Odd.
