Obviously this is a post meant for the more well-traveled explorers rather than people who mainly stay local, like myself. I want to get a feel for the exploring vibe in other cities, and want to take note of any major differences in exploring. (Only other city I've really explored was Philly, where construction is tougher than it is in NYC, but buildings and rails are laughably easy.)

I've travelled a little bit to explore. Nothing has topped Detroit. Not yet anyway.

Philly because it's awesome, Newark because it's close.

BERLIN!!!!

when i was there i went into abandoned: houses, hospital, amusement park, bunkers, military base, spy station, a few factories.... all within berlin. I found new places daily, just by walking around town.

Way better then what we have here in Vancouver, we do have some cool spot. But they are few and in some cases pretty far out of town.

So far I've only explored in a few cities, but as an underground lover I have a soft spot for Paris and its amazing maze of underground quarries and technical tunnels.

Montreal has also a great deal to offer in terms of old, abandoned buildings, construction cranes, DRAINS and underground infrastructures. Gotta say I love Montreal and I'm real happy to live in such a wonderful city!

Should any of you feel like visiting Montreal, don't hesitate to let me know; we have a thriving exploring scene here, and a 30+ group of talented explorers/photographers doing all kinds of crazy shit.

I've really only explored in Richmond but I love it there. There are so many abandoned buildings but (un)fortunately a lot of them are being converted into apartments

I feel like gary is considerably more dangerous than almost any other city... I feel like they don't have the resources to keep an eye on things. I'd rather take a chance on getting arrested than walking in on criminal activity or having a neighbor shoot me..

One time I was visiting the house my dad grew up in, like just taking some pictures of the outside (its abandoned now), and the neighbor pulled a gun on us (this was like 2pm). It all ended with shits and giggles, but still...

I have explored in Berlin, too and i didn't find it quite attractive for exploring. Yes, it indeed has a large variety for every taste but abandoned places out there are less than in Eastern europe cities. Also, i prefer smaller towns not capitals.

As i live near sea, it's easily to reach Stockholm(Sweden) and Helsinki(Finland) but these countries are expensive. Public transportation out there and everything else costs exactly twice as much than here. But i'm pretty sure i go there some day. Also, there are direct trains to Moscow from my hometown but Russia - it's a big fat NO because it's a headache to apply visa. And there's also opportunity to reach Minsk in Belarussia but it's also a big fat no because of all visa applying.
Also, Ryanair has cool prices to Brussels and Oslo (10 eur!) but i guess i'm afraid to take flight.

The same is going on here in Buffalo. Many buildings in the downtown area are being converted into loft apartments and shops. The outer areas are still filled with abandonments though.

I completely forgot about Buffalo, that joins the list of favourites as well, largely because I have a great group of friends I have made in the area who I have a total blast with when I visit.
