Built in 1924 (opening in 1925) by the St. Louis Bank Equipment Company: this 8 story building was the city's first skyscraper, and the start of its "big building boom" of the 1920s. The Citizens National Bank was once the main tenant on the ground floor - later it was a Walgreens and finally a stationery company. The upper 7 floors housed a variety of professional offices and retailers, while the top floor was - at one point - home to a posh restaurant that overlooked Lake Michigan.
The reasons for its decline are not known, but it would seem this place was vacated by 1987; however it sees occasional maintenance, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
