One of my Favorite Locations Burns from Lightning Strike

So I was out exploring one of my all time favorite locations today with a friend. It is a massive school campus with over 15 2-3 story buildings. I've been here 3-4 times before and it never gets old walking through the huge campus. Well it has been about a month since I visited and one of my friends asked if we could go explore, I figured why not.

However once I got there I realized it was completely different from what it used to be. Buildings which once had many entry points suddenly had none. I could see every building had brand new sheets of plywood over entrances I once used to gain access. I thought this was strange but regardless the two of us still found some ways in. We explored for a bit then me and her walked to what was the building furthest into the campus.

For the life of me I could not find this place. I looked on my GPS and saw I somehow walked right by it. But all I passed was a giant field? After walking through that "field" I found all that was left of the building. A few charred boards and a bunch of "Fire Line: Do Not Cross" tape.

I guess lightning hit the building and it ended up burning to the ground. Then demolition crews came in and wrecked whatever was left of it. The fire then prompted the owner to board up the rest of the buildings again as well as install a new gate to prevent anyone from driving onto the property.

I originally thought it was arson, but after looking it up it turns out firefighters don't believe so. Such a shame.

I had this happen to me once. I came across an abandoned school in the area and wanted to explore, but I didn't have any shoes with me (I love being barefoot) so I decided to come back. Three days later I returned, apparently the gym building had burned to the ground. Arson. Unfortunate too, it looked like a cool place.

Damn... Didn't see that picture before. I'm just glad I got to visit and record inside that building before it was gone. I remember coming across a tub filled with red paint as well as the paint splattered all over the walls. A very creepy sight to see haha

Lightning? That's what they always say when some dickhole uses a lighter to set fire to a curtain and puts it back in his pocket.

Thats what I was thinking. A few sites said officials think it was a lightning strike. But what are the odds a large building in the very back of the property far away from the roads is the one that gets hit and burns to the ground. To suspicious for me to actually believe lightning caused this.

This happened to my former favourite restaurant which later turned into a very cool abandonment- Jesse's Landing in St. Pete's, Florida.
