you must be confused sir.

I don't think so but please prove me wrong and I will certainly admit then I was confused.
From the second picture, a view to the north up Broad Street, it is obvious the subject building is south of City Hall and on the west side of Broad Street. This pretty much pins it down to the exact building that is indeed a hotel now. BTW, for a number of years, a long time ago, my office was in the building just to the left of the City Hall spire at the SW corner of Broad and Arch streets.
Picture 4 is on the north side of the roof looking mostly west. The light brown building, just below the one with the pointed spire behind it, is located at the corner of Ranstead Street and S 15th street, again pinning down the building the picture was taken from.
Picture 5 also pins down the buildings location. It is a view to the east (and a bit to the north). The SE corner of City Hall and the PSFS building (now a hotel) leave no doubt as to where this picture was take from, the NE corner of the roof in picture 4.
This hotel was built in 1930 as a bank and was physically attached to a 38 story office building (built about 1970) directly west of it. That 38 story building had a major fire in 1991, three firemen were killed, and the building was deconstructed in 1997. The glass facade 48 story building with patios that is just visible in picture 4, peeking out from the NW corner of the subject building, is where the building that had the fire was. In 2000 the subject building was converted to a 330 room hotel.
To be blunt, the building in the pictures above is not an abandoned/closed building and it bothers me that it is represented as such. It is an operating and very well maintained upscale hotel in Center City that is open to the public, at least to the extent of any hotel. I just called again and they are taking reservations right now. Take a look at Google Maps and it will not only tell you the name of the hotel but substantiate what I said above.
