I was just looking for a little insight. I'm looking at a new camera, and I'm very partial to nikon, but I was curious if anyone on here has tried the new Canon eos Rebel T5i.

If so, and you have any knowledge of the Nikon d5200, which would be the recommended of the two, as far as performance for the price? Any one with any education on these two cams I would be more than happy to here your thoughts and opinions. Thank you.

Nikon guys will tell you to go with the Nikon and Canon guys will tell you to go with the Canon. They're both fine cameras and if you like Nikons, just go for the Nikon.

Get whatever feels good to you when you hold it, and has menus that make sense to you. You are generally going to be able to get good image quality with whatever you buy.

I use a micro 4/3 camera and i get great images with it.

And read this.

I'll give you a tip. The t5i is exactly the same camera as the t4i. It's just rebadged and more expensive.

I Own the T4i and love it, I have played a little with Nikon but some of the settings and the simplicity still feel better to me on the Canon. The low-light settings on it are really nice and you can push the ISO a decent bit. Get what you feel comfortable with and go that route, one thing I would say is go to a local camera shop and try the cameras out then order from B&H Photo or Adorama as they tend to be a little cheaper. I have ordered all my equipment from B&H and have gotten great customer service and fast shipping. One final suggestion is check Craigslist for the T4i. When canon rolled out the T5i they discontinued the T4i and if you can get it on Craigslist for a decent price I'd go that route.

Yeah, the real reason I was asking is because my friend has a Canon, and this boy swears by it. We traded for a day just to see how we each felt about them, I won't lie, I did like the Canon, I've just used Nikon since my first camera.

He is also one of those guys who thinks whatever he has is the best, no matter what. Android runs circles around my iPhone, till I got the 5s, jailbroke it, and started toying with his Android, which crashed every time he tried to root it btw.

I do like the feel of a Canon, but I have driven Chevy my whole life and it's like switching to a Ford. I just thought maybe there was something about the Canon that I didn't know which made it a step above. Thanks guys, I'll prob just stick to Nikon.

Cheers and again thanks for the input.
