Not asking for any locations...

I'm not gonna ask for any exact locations, because I know what that would lead to. I am gonna be in Dallas pretty soon, and I have a couple places I plan to check out.

Was gonna see if any locals could weigh in and give your opinion, are the more interesting places on the north or south side? Or just scattered about?

I'll only have maybe two days tops, so I was just curious as to where to focus the most attention. That way I can make the most of the time I have there. I know I can use google maps and whatnot, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out as to where to point the map.

I haven't spent too much time in Dallas so I really don't know a lot about the layout. Just not to be on the interstate at noon or five. Any info would probably help.

if you like drains I can help you out. Dallas has a wealth of drains.

I haven't really spent a lot of time in drains. I'd like to give some a look, but prefer to check them out with someone that has some experience in that area. I'd more than likely get myself into a dumb situation. I do appreciate the offer though. Since I'll be alone, I think I'll try to stay above ground this go round.

Whether any full members from the DFW crew have read your post or not, I wish you good luck with acquiring info on here. Hopefully, they aren't snobby like the ones in my town.

Yeah, I don't expect a lot, just hoping for a point in the right direction. I have at least one place I'm going. Just wanna find one or two more places to check out while I'm there.

The whole reason I am taking the time to go down there is because I have a couple free days and figured since I'll be in the area, I'll make the most of it.

Hopefully as the year progresses I'll be making my way deeper south into Texas, along with covering most of south central Oklahoma.

At the risk of Dallas being seen as inhospitable to a fellow explorer, I'll bite:

Don't know if I qualify as an official representative of Dallas, but I've lived in the area my entire life and currently reside in a suburb to the north. I'm not sure what sort of UE you're into, but I know if I had a few days to dedicate completely to exploring, there are a couple places in my town I'd hit up.

One is a semi-abandoned compound located on prime real estate property on the edge of town, which has been quietly owned for years by an ultra-religious group. The site contains several interesting buildings, including a geodesic dome-shaped structure. My other location involves procuring a boat. So, there's that.

If you'll be in Denton County, (if you're traveling via I-35E South, you will be) there are many, many old barns and farmhouses right off the freeway--and probably even sweeter places if you follow one of the farm roads off the freeway--that I'd be content to explore all day long. Although, again, I don't know if that's your cup of urbex tea.

Of course, when it comes to northern I-35, there's always the infamous Kirby mansion in Sanger. Located about 30 miles south of the OK border on the southbound side of I-35, you literally can not miss it. Already been explored many times and has an entry the uer location database courtesy of our own Captain Slow. (Hey, where is that guy anyway??!) http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=30029

Good luck, and remember: pics or it didn't happen.

Wow, that's a lot more than I was expecting haha. I really appreciate that though. Yeah, everything you mentioned is right up my alley, I'll make sure and try to get to them all if possible.

Again, thanks a million, way cool of you.

About Sanger/Kirby - I was out that way a few months ago. To the south, there's a new sports complex with ample parking. The property fence around the mansion is incomplete, so walking around the private property isn't criminal trespassing per 30.05 of the Texas Penal Code.

Also, when I was out there one of the doors was unlocked, so you may be able to walk around inside. It was totally gutted though, but the staircase is worth a look.

If you're looking for other well-known but excellent and photogenic sites, I recommend a trek out to the Swift plant (Google should get you there). Echo Lake is also an interesting trip. If being that specific on a thread like this is against the rules, I'll be happy to edit that away.

I think a good rule of thumb is: if a location is well-known enough to be found on Google, it's probably ok to mention on the forums. Especially if all you're stating is the name of a place...giving away specific POE's is what gets people into hot water.

I'm leaving out on this expedition this friday, so if anyone has anymore info to add, I'll be down in the area by saturday. Hell any locals in the area are free to message me and since it's your stomping grounds, you're free to join me.

How is it going so far?
Make sure that you do visit the Swift Plant.
Tons of graffiti too, if you're into that trash "art". Anyways, it's also the location that was used to film the third season of PRISON BREAK.

Went through OKC and hit an abandoned school and building that was destroyed by the tornado last year. Bad deal.

I'm in south OK right now making my way through. Should head to Dallas by tomorrow hopefully.
