This house nearby me has been abandoned since the owner died a few months ago. I heard stories about his health deteriorating over the years as he had Alzheimer. I went to check if anything was being done with his now empty house and suprisingly it was unlocked and empty. Electricity works and theres nothing there. If I were a squatter this would be prime location.

Surprisingly, not the case for a lot of abandonments. The 407 houses were all still hooked up to the power until right before demo.

Where i worked we abandonned a whole site, (16 buildings) we cancelled the electricity, Hydro came and cut power only to the buildings that had regular meters, the buildings that had remote meters (where you yank the meter and the power doesnt go off) still had power 2-3 years later. It was funning going in to these trashed buildings and hitting a light switch and lights comming on

Prince Edward heights still had power 9 years after it was abandoned. Made for an interesting explore considering how trashed and decayed the place was.

I didn't know that.

I have a frame with a piece of turf and season tickets from the final season there with a photograph taken during the last game against the Redskins there.

Maybe there are some legal issues to be settled before the house is put on the market. So for the time being, the power and heat stays on so the house can be kept in a relatively sellable condition.
Just my two cents worth.

Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back.
