| | | Link to the gallery: http://imgur.com/gallery/L1Nde I tried uploading with the QuickUploader in the thread creator, but it didnt work out :/ If anyone has tips for cleaner pic uploading, don't hesitate to lay it on me! So for starters, i'm obviously new to this, so if any of you have any helpful advice i would be more than grateful. I've read all the rules and FAQs but there's always more to learn! The hospital was, as you can see, tagged and torn to shit. But the sheer magnitude of the place made up for that. Me and a friend woke up for this at 4:30 AM to avoid security, which we found did a lazy patrol without getting out of their car at around 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. So our trip ran smooth as far as that. We had maps of the campus and knew we wouldn't get to hit it all in one day. We started with the southern most group of buildings, which only had a dinky fallout shelter as something of interest. Then we went to the West wings of hallways, near the main building, which included an interesting gym and cafeteria. From there we went on to the main building, in which we found the movie/presentation auditorium, and then climbed to the top of. We were really hyped about getting onto the highest roof, but were disappointed to find out that the highest room was an elevator motor room with no roof access... or so we thought. We went down to the "secondary" roof with the caged walls and climbed onto the "roof roof" on the opposite side from it. From there we found a exterior ladder that went to the top of the motor room. I couldn't show too many of our rooftop photos since they're all kind-of "location revealing", but trust me, it was a marvelous view. Once we tore through a box of Nature Valley bars on the top, we climbed down and left the main building in route for the most North-East building, which we heard held the only entrance to the tunnels. Aaaaand we were right. We climbed down into the tunnels, masks on and flashlights blaring, and continued on. We walked until we reached the tunnels under the main building, but sadly they were flooded with some of the nastiest water i'd seen. We'll probably end up going back with tall rubber boots to see what was further back there. I hear there's a bowling alley. Oh, and how could i forget, HOLY SHIT SPIDERS. Oh my JESUS there were some funk-ass spiders down there. They came in every shape and size. Some were round, some were reflectant, some were huge, some were small. But almost all of them were colorful, which is an obvious red light. I plan on bringing a flamethrower next time. (joking... joking...). That was when we decided to head home and mull over the obnoxious amount of pictures we took. Which i hope you guys think are at least decent for a starter. All in all it was very fun and i look forward to UrbExing in the future around the Great Lakes and maybe even Southern Ontario.

| | | That was a wonderful first explore post. You will do well here. Welcome aboard! CowboyDan did say that this location isn't a big deal. It's fairly well known, easy to find, and trashed/empty anyway. However, keep in mind that everything you post here is public. That means that ANYONE who stumbles upon UER can see it. It is not unheard of for locations to be openly named and then be completely closed off, scrapped, or vandalized. The point he was trying to make is that when you explore something a little more low key, you might not want to be careful what information to reveal about it, especially if you intend a return visit. I was actually going to visit here a few summers ago but was told by locals there were crews working on it and cops were watching it handing citations out like candy. Might have to drop by of om ever in the area again. Also, flickr is awesome and you get a terabyte of free space so I do recommend that. However, if you prefer imgur, you can just link to individual images here. Just right click on the image and get it's URL and put it in img tags like this: [img]URL[/img]

| Hah wow thanks for clarifying on the image link insert, i was confused as to how i could insert images from separate host sites, these little tips really do mean a lot to me! I only said the name because i knew that it was already torn to pieces, also it was on the public DB. Which actually brings up a question. Is it okay to say names/post slightly revealing pictures if it's on the public DB, or should i avoid those things on all places except for well known ones like this? And as for security, like i said i went nice and early before the patrols and from what i can tell they toned it down around 2013.

| Once you start to explore in Detroit, there will be many, many spots that are very well known. Most of them aren't in the DB. Just use discretion. If you happen upon a school or church that are in great shape, don't name it. If the building is blown out and covered in spray paint, it probably doesn't matter.
