Sorry if this has been brought up before, but the search didn't turn up any results for me.
Anyway, I'm just curious if anyone has experience using a white pickup truck to explore. Why? They're the least suspicious vehicles out there, at least in North America. You could park it right in front of a location and no one would think anything of it. As a bonus, you could also get a couple black number decals for the front fenders and/or tailgate if you're really dedicated. These things just look so official in the strangest of places, so, you know... They just seem perfect for the hobby. Am I being crazy, or does it really help?

That would fool me. Around here our public works truck are either white or orange so either of those colors with a number decal would make me think they belong there.

In Ohio trespassing fines are doubled for pickup trucks, utility vans, and motorcycles. Also if you are caught trespassing twice with the same vehicle it can be seized..

This is better.
You can get one for $1500-$3000.

Actually, white isn't even necessary. I have been driving a beige pickup truck and then tan, for ages. The truck, with a toolbox, is very unquestioned. No one cares. Put some boots between the cab and the bed...you're basically official.

In my area it would be a bad idea..

At the least the cop would stop for a quick look in the bed on the off chance that you were stealing copper or other items..

At worse he might go looking around to see if you are stealing copper at that moment.

Some years ago I had a job working with fire suppression systems. The ladder rack & tool box on my truck was like a magnet for cops. I'd get followed 2-3 times a week..

Yes and no. Cops are not dumb. No matter how much we wish it was true. My best vehicle thus far? 1999 Buick Century. Slacks. Button up shirt. Tie if I feel froggy. And I pull in and just walk around like I own it. If questioned I simply say I'm looking for some property and was checking it out. Either for myself, an out of state relative, or business associate. Works best if you are older and look kinda professional.

The problem is that as a 5'4" blonde girl, I can't pull any of this off, no matter how legit the car looks.

Personally, I prefer to land on the roof in my unmarked black helicopter and explore from the top down. But that's just me.

Maybe so, but THAT'S your angle. I could never have an "adorability" factor looking like me.

You'd have the best shot showing up in a dark grey BMW wearing a business suit and a hard hat and using a walky-talky. This, of course, is assuming that most people can't tell real life from movies.

Haha, that's about all I have going for me. If cops see me in an abandoned building, they're mostly just going to be confused.

All of you people with 4 wheels are lucky. The only transportation I have is a black sport bike, not very inconspicuous. It is only convenient for hiding it behind a bush or a dumpster and burning rubber if the cops are on to you, any other vehicle: HELL, you're set to go and will fit right in (especially a white pickup).

I used to drive a retired Bell Canada van as a work truck when I worked at my old job. Nobody asked ANY questions when you had that old beast... until my boss decided to put the race team's graphics all over it.

I have wished one of my friends had a white truck to borrow on a couple occasions.
I've done vehicle magnets before and I have popped the hood open a little if I have to park and hike in.

I have my white 98 Buick Lesabre and it doesn't really draw that much attention, and it doesn't really stand out from other cars in downtown Memphis.

My 71 VW bus is a different story...

My white truck isn't too conspicuous. The 22" wheels on the other hand, tend to attract a few glances and looks. Usually safer for me to park down the road a bit.
